Default AFPD can't find transmitter

I just installed AFPD on my new computer and it says it has located the usb, but cannot find the transmitter. I did install the update patch. My new computer is running windows vista, i don't know if this makes any difference. But i haven't used the sim in a long time, and don't have another computer to try it on. I'm using the same transmitter that it worked with before. Is this a problem with the usb cord? I've tried two different transmitters.

fly4fun, which radio are you using? Which patch did you install? Did you install any addons?

I had the same problem until I switched the transmitter to PPM mode.

I'm using a JR XF631 (which worked before) and I tried a futaba skysport. I don't think it's the radio because it worked with AFPD before. I installed the latest patch on the website.

fly4fun, are you using a JR adapter between your JR radio and the usb interface cable? Also, please set your radio to PPM mode

tbald, you need a GL-compatible 3D graphics card such as the ones listed here http://www.aerofly.com/www/requirements.html The integrated graphics card will not work. Please also take a look at the other system requirements

I am having the same problem. I am running WinXPH and also running ReflexXTR, Realflight G4, and Aeroflypro Deluxe.
When I connect the dongle it is recognized, when I connect my T9CHP it is not recognized.

I have tried this before starting AFPD and after starting AFPD.

Once it worked for a min or two and then stopped working again!

Sounds like your adapter may be faulty. Where did you get your adapter from? What is the error message that you see?

Thank you for trying.

My adapter is working fine, always has. I installed DirectX tried to install the most recent but it does not read that way. Then I reinstalled AFPD and applied all updates in consecutive order from the first to the most recent.
I connected the dongle and the Xmitter and they were recognized and functional. I then restarted the system and AFPD without the dongle and Xmitter connected, while the program was booting up I connected the dongle and Xmitter, the dongle was recognized but the xmitter was not. I then shut down the program, left the dongle and xmitter connected, waited a min or two and restarted the program, now everything is recognized and working.

Guess in addition to reinstalling and applying the updates in order from first to most recent the dongle and xmitter had best be connected before starting AeroFlyPro Deluxe.

It's working. :-}

Default RE: AFPD can't find transmitter

Now what I would really like is to have AeroFlyPro Deluxe recognize my RealFlight G4 Interlink Controller.
Right now it does not.
I have all the updates and of course the dongle is plugged into a USB port, but AeroFlyPro Deluxe still does not recognize the Interlink Controller.

Does anyone have a solution that will enable the use of the RealFlight G4 Interlink Controller to practice flying with AeroFlyPro Deluxe?

Thank you for your help.

Driftair, you'll have to configure the controller as a "joystick" in the controls menu

Hi Rajul,

The last time I tried, (which was before I read your last messge) I could not find any indication that AerolfyPro Deluxe recognized the controller in anyway at all.
Are you suggesting that I use windows 'Game Controllers' to set up the controller as a joystick? OR are do you simply mean to choose a joystick that indicates 2 sticks, 3 switches, one knob, and ? buttons?

I will of course try that to see if I get any response that indicates the program can see the controller.

Thank you.

OK

From within Aeroflypro Deluxe, I clicked on 'Controls' and 'Aircraft Control Settings' appeared.
I clicked on 'New' first, with Transmitter highlighted,
The configuration window that opened indicated "NEW"
I moved the control arms and switches around and nothing on screen responded.
I then clicked the 'Advanced' button and moved control arms and switches, still nothing responding.
I then clicked on a radio channel button, and in the 'Select channel' window,
moved control arms and switches trying to see if anything showed up, nothing responded.

I tried the same under joystick, and every choice except "USB Interface/GameCommander" was grayed out and not accessible to choose.
Nothing I tried indicated that the "RFG4 Interlink Controller was recognized.

P.S. I have all of the AFPD updates installed.

In some cases there could be a usb conflict. Try connecting the interlink to other usb ports. When you plug in your G4 controller and then go to your computer's "control panel" and select game controllers, do you see the G4 controller recognized? How did you connect your interlink to the PC? Did you use the cable that goes through the antenna receptacle, or the cable behind the controller?

Default RE: AFPD can't find transmitter

Hi Mark,

I have been connecting the Interlink Controller by the USB cable coming out the top of the controller.
I assume that it does not put out a PPM signal.
In the Control panel the controller is recognized and fully configurable. I can also practice with RealFlight G4 with no problems.
There are no USB conflicts indicated, at least there are none that show up in Device Manager under "Human Interface Devices" or "Universal Serial Bus controllers."
I am guessing that a software or registry problem has been created, possibly by one of the upgrades, causing the grayed out options to be unavailable.

Default RE: AFPD can't find transmitter

I am beginning to think their may be something wrong with my AFPD cable.

Once again when I connect my t9chp transmitter it is not recognized when using AFPD.

However when I use Reflex XTR the transmitter is recognized and works fine.

It seems the only logical conclusion is that the cable is going bad or getting faulty?

Are there other options possible given what has occurred?

Oh, by the way the radio is set to ppm.

I purchased my cable at the same time I purchased my software from (http://www.ohiomodelplanes.com/)

That purchase was made well over 2 years ago.

Hi driftair, did your 9C radio switch on when you plugged in the adapter cable?

Pls plug in your AFPD interface cable and your 9C radio and run AFPD. Then look for the tmlog file in your AFPD program directory. You can find open the file with a text editor like word or notepad. Post your tmlog file here so that I can take a look at it.

Mike, I'm having a similar problem.

My computer (HP laptop running Vista Home Premium) was actually running the program flawlessly until yesterday.

Now the controls are erratic and, when I attempt to calibrate, the dialogue box keeps changing the number of detected channels.

I've tried 3 different transmitters (JR 8103, 6102, Spektrum DX7) with the same results.

I think it's the dongle....I've had trouble with it before. It once had a similar problem and I found when removing the shrink wrap some bad solder connections. I repaired them and all was well for awhile, but now the problem has returned and there is no visible issue with the board. I'm getting a bit disgusted. I have never had so much trouble with any other peripheral.

Where can I send it for evaluation/replacement? I think I bought the upgrade from an outfit in Cinncinnati or Dayton, Ohio but I can't find the record.

Rick

Hi Mike,

Yes, my 9C radio does switch on when it is plugged into the adapter cable, in fact the xmitter radio turns on even if the adapter cable is not connected.

Hi driftair, thanks for the tmlog file. It looks like there could be an open connection in the usb interface or the adapter. Please ship your usb interface cable and the adapter to the service department below with a brief description of your problem and daytime phone number. You may attach this thread for reference.

Hi Rick, it looks like your usb interface has become faulty. The shrink wrap version of the usb interface that you have is the older version. The new version has a molded casing. Please ship your usb interface cable to the service department below with a brief description of your problem and daytime phone number. You may attach this thread for reference. Please request for a change to the new molded case version.

Help!!! I have AFDProf. ver. 1.9.1.3 and all works fine. I downloaded update ver. 1.11.7.9 and all I get is that I need openGL 2.0 of better and the program won't run. I'm using a Radeon 9250 card with the following info:

Driver Packaging Version 8.252-060503a-038185C-ATI
CATALYST® Version 06.11
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6614
2D Driver File Path System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{4A3F9409-2C05-49EF-9B43-55986C796458}\0000
Direct3D Version 6.14.10.0399
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.5819
CATALYST® Control Center Version 1.2.2314.20337

I think it should work. What am I missing here? []

Hi Baytel,

I think you need to download and install the most recent version of DirectX

Try the following link

P.S. You may want to check for the latest drivers for your graphics card at the link below.
