Default AFPD with low FPS count

Just purchased Aerofly Professional Delux but am unable to get the FPS above 30FPS for 3D scenery and around 55FPS for photo scenery.
Aerofly info:version 1.11.7.1, serial# 9A5260D5
System info:Windows XP-Home, CPU - Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.4GHZ, memory 1MB
video: ATI Radeon X300/X550/X1050 with latest drivers downloaded from ATI

Stopped Antivirus and any other unnecessary processes such as QuickTime, MSOffice Quick launch, etc.

I suspect my video-card as the processor is never busy above 60% tops.
Any advice would be appreciated!!
Thanks, Jos.

There are some options you can turn off inside the application itself. For example, turn off smoke, reflection, collision with trees, etc. 30 fps still looks pretty good doesn't it?

Yep, that definitely improves things a bit! Display is at times still a bit jittery and as per the manual it states 33FPS as the absolute minimum.....
I don't get above 33FPS on 3D scenery with collisions, clouds and smoke turned off.
Do I need to look at a different video-card?

Your video card is too slow. Stop all program applications running in the background and also scan for virus and spywares. Also ensure that your card is run at maximum hardware acceleration setting. That might help a little but take a look at the recommended cards here http://www.aerofly.com/www/requirements.html

In the Control Panel
Select personalize.

Change the setting to 16 bit color instead of 32 bits colors.
Select advance, then it'll bring up more options. Intead of just using the slider bar.

Keep it at 60hrtz or above.
This is the flash rates, the higher the better, this will minimize headache if you stair at the PC screen for
a long time.

Also check in you BIOS, to see your Vidio card is set at maximun setting allow.
When you first trun on your PC...you'll see the F buttons or esc....(whatever your PC use to get to Bios.)
before Window loads.

For other window's settings such as the mouse, borders... select Window's basic color.
This has nothing to do with 16bit or 32 bit settings, but it'll free up your processor and vedio card more.

Scane through your start up programs. Depending what you've installed, some software
will automaticlly run everytime you trun on your PC..you won't even know it's running...just like anti virus software.
Disable these softwares....don't remove them just Disable them so they don't start automatically.

Thanks everyone!
Between the tweaking of AeroFly graphic options and the windows & BIOS options the FPS has improved enough to be close to 35FPS for 3D and over 65FPS for Photo-scenery which is good enough for now!
Might save up for that new video-card....
Jos.
