Default USB Cable

I sent my 1st interface cable in for repair and they sent me a new one quite a while ago. The 1st one was black this one is tan.

What I'd like to know is have they made any advances in the quality of the cable because I am FAR from hard on it and my 2nd one is now starting to act up on me just like the 1st one. It works if I hold it against the side of my radio but if I leave it hang it won't work at all.....same as last time.

Unless I tell a lie I'd appreciate you not removing or editing my post. Moderator or not I said nothing that should not be allowed here.

I see some tape on one end of the adapter cable? Is there some connection problem with the adapter?

Unscrew the rubber covers at the end of the usb interface cable, and also at the end of the adapter cable. Check for any broken solder joints or shorting connections. Can you do some soldering work? Do you have a DVM to check for electrical continuity?

Well I've had it with this cable. Yes I can solder but I see no broken solder joints.

Where do I ship this one too ?? This will be their last chance and the last time I send in this cable.

The good news : I receieved a new interface from germany.

The bad news: They sent me my old futaba adapter back and its doing the same damn thing.

I've looked at the solder joints on both ends and again theres nothing visually wrong and I'm not about to tear both fairly new radios apart. I find it highly unlikely that both my 6EXA and 9CHPS could go bad at the same time. Did Ikarus even bother to test the adapter cable ??

Why wouldn't they just send me a new one to be on the safe side ???

To say I'm not happy would be an understatement.

Which type of interface cable they sent you? I am not sure if they tested your adapter cable but I will check. In the meantime, please PM me your contact details again. Thanks

same futaba adapter with a brand new interface. Too bad they didn't check out which one was bad because obvioulsly the interface wasn't the trouble. Seems to me its the adapter and it's been in to ikarus TWICE now and sent back both times!! DAMN

Hmmm, quite a difference in price for what appears to me as the same thing.

Wahoo

I am having a similar problem and I have narrowed it down to the cable. Do you get an error message when Aerofly starts up that says the program recognizes the USB cable but cannot find the transmitter?

The system worked fine before the start of the summer but now it doesn't. Very annoying.

I did not edit your second post nor do I have any idea what the original content of the post was. If it was edited, it could have been another moderator probably due to some offensive or inappropriate content.

I can only help rectify the problem as I have tried to do just before your last post. There are lots of behind-the-scene communication and action being taken in any case posted in this support forum. I try to keep things civil. Trouble is my posts seem to get edited as soon as I show any displeasure with the product I spent my hard earned money on. I've had this same trouble before and both times I sent in my cords I got the same adapter back and now I'm having trouble once more.....and I'm not supposed to be upset or voice my displeasure ???? And what really gets me is as soon as I do "someone" mysteriously edits it. I claim BS.

An edited post used to say who did the editing and now they don't seem to show this info. Hmmmm

Just let me know if the adapter that tower sells for 3 bucks will work please.

Ikarus Germany will ship you a new style usb interface and a Futaba adapter. That was my specific instruction to them a few weeks ago. Please return the old style usb interface to Ikarus Germany at your convenience.

Mike .... I really do appreciate all the help you have given me. Is there no way they can just ship me the futaba micro plug adapter. I firmly believe that the interface was not at fault way back when nor is it to blame now and I personally don't care if I have the older or newer version. If it wasn't for Towers high shipping charges I'd buy the Futaba adapter I linked to in a previous post.

Thanks
wahoo

wahoo, this is a more reliable interface. As I said, Ikarus should not have sent you the old style interface in any case. I made this very clear to them. I want to resolve your issue permanently so that you can concentrate on using AFPD rather than tinkering with the cables.

STLPILOT or as he's better know as Dion assured me that what came in the box would work with my (then) brand new 6EXA. After waiting for the simulator for what seemed forever I was faced with the dongle that comes in the box. The dongle that comes with the sim has all round plugs. OMP made it right by sending me the Futaba micro adapter. It has to be the trouble just for the simple fact as the interface has been swapped out twice and the trouble still exists. Tower sells what looks like the same adapter for $2.82. Will it work ?

I have no idea. Why do you bother when a new Futaba adapter is also on the way to you?

Mark, we was talking about a new interface/cord a while back. You said to remind you about when the new ones came in. Are they in now? Thanks Capt,n
