Default Installing AFPD on MAC

Hi Mike just received my AFPD and am trying to install it. Sorry for the question but from the read me file it says "Do not run (double click) the app from this disk image. Instead copy the folder AeroFly Professional Deluxe from the DMG image to any place you like (the preferred place for AeroFly Professional Deluxe on Mac OS X is the User application folder ~/Applications)."

Can you explain this to me? how do I copy something from the DMG?

Default RE: Installing AFPD on MAC

Hi dale, follow the instructions below:

- Before installing the main program and patch on Mac OSX, users must have Administrator rights on the computer. To set Administrator rights in the Mac OS follow these steps:
1) From the Apple Menu select “System Preferences...â€
2) Click the “Users†icon
3) Double-click on the user’s name to edit the user’s settings
4) Click the “Password†tab
5) Check the “Allow user to administer this computer†box. Disable any "guest" account.
6) Click “OK†Log out and Log back in (from the Apple menu) to make the changes take effect.
Note Only a user with administration privileges can make the changes listed above.
Here's a useful link on how to set the admin rights http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/k...tion/2190.html

- To install the main program, do not run (double click) the application from the disk image. Instead copy the folder AeroFly Professional Deluxe to any place you like (the preferred place
for AeroFly Professional Deluxe on Mac OS X is the User application folder ~/Applications) or the desktop.
1) After inserting the DVD, the DVD symbol afpd-mac will appear on your desktop.
2) Double clicking on the symbol will show the content of the DVD.
3) Pull the dmg-file from the folder to the desktop
4) Double click on the dmg-file, which you just had copied
5) Accept the license conditions and wait while the system is checking the installation files
6) After a few minutes the dmg will open and you will see a new finder window.
7) Now pull the Aerofly Professional Deluxe folder from the finder window onto the desktop
8) Double click on the Aerofly Professional Deluxe folder, which is on the desktop.
9) To start the simulation double click on Aerofly
10) As a last step you may delete the finder window and the afpd-vxxxxxx.dmg files, which are no longer necessary.

- To install the patch, unzip (double click) on the downloaded file and copy or drag the extracted Aerofly.app file into your AeroFly Professional Deluxe directory.
- ATI and Nvidia video card drivers are automatically delivered with a Mac OS X update. So, there's no need for a separate download and installation

Thank you for that, all working now. However when I try to edit an aircraft the program quits! Any quick fixes?

Could it be because I was trying to edit the cub?

Dale, some planes causes AFPD to crash in Mac when any editing is done. Some others that do not allow editing are the A380, A-10, an2, ash25, B29, bf109, and boeing s747. I have alerted IPACS on this and they will work on a patch for it. In the meantime, avoid editing these.

Sorry to do this to you Mike, just one last question I am trying to use AFPD on my mac book. Tried to change the screen size to 1200X something instead of window. I have to restart it for the settings to take effect. But the sim will never open again and I have to reinstall! this process worked fine on my iMac

Any suggestions?

Cheers Dale

I think the card is Intel GMA X3100 and I am running OS X 10.6.3. I am trying to install the patch but when I double click on the download I an error message "Aerofly quit unexpectedly" and then a file appears on the desk top TM Log, is that the file and where is the installation directory?

Hi dale, the Intel on-board video is not adequate, although your OS is fine. You'll need a 3D video card such as the ones recommended here http://www.aerofly.com/afpd/requirements.html
