How to change sun position

Hi,

I always fly using one of the photo-realistic sceneries (can't remember its name). I want to change the position of the sun because in this scenery it is always in front of me, I would like it to be behind me. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks

I don't believe it's possible since photo realistic sceneries are just that: photos. The sun was there when the pictures were taken, so...

Hi,

sure its possible.

Each .geo file has a LIGHT_ section and the

LIGHT_POSITION 0 0.20 -0.40 1.00 0

is the line for the sun position

FIRST and last number (0) are not important, but the middle 3 set the sun location

0.20 north-south direction
-0.40 east-west direction
1.00 hight

but if you change it, it maybe doesnt fit the shadow given in the phote sceneries

Thanks Andi !!!

Since I've never messed with this before, can you please give me some pointers?
Do you know the range of values you can play with? from -1 to 1? does "0" means sun right on top? etc?

I asssume that the .geo file is a simple text file that I could modify in the notepad. Is this correct?

Hi,

yes, the .geo is a simple text file, allways make a copy before playing arround with this files.

north-south direction --> -1 till 1 - = south
east-west direction --> -1 till 1 - = east
hight --> 0 till 1 1 = 90 degree, right on top

Thank you very much Andi!!

Just to make sure I got it right:

For example, a sunset towards the northeast should be: LIGHT_POSITION 0 1.00 -1.00 0.00 0

Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you very much.

Itried it last night and it worked perfectly.

(Well, almost... my scenery sky now has two suns; the one a moved behind me and the one from the actual photo, hahaha)

Nevertheless it helped since the reflexions and plane shadows are more realistic of the way I fly in real life.

You might want to remove the sun from the original scene (the pano before you install it into the program) with the clone tool in Photoshop. That way you would only have the sun that is generated by the program.

Good Idea,

Do you know which file contains the photo?

Sorry for the delay in responding. What is the name of the scene that you are using? Is it one of the scenes that came from IPACS "the guys that wrote the program" or something you down loaded?

No Problem, Thanks for the help.

It's one that came with the program and has a difficult name. If you give me the file extension, I can take it from there.

If it came with the program you will not be able to edit the file as you do not have access to the original photos.

Sorry Bill
