Starting in IMAC in 2004 in SC region.
I think I have a pretty good understanding of what IMAC is. I have read through the website, and have read up on rules, judging criteria, and the FAI list of manuvers. I am currently building a 34% Extra to compete with in the Sportsman class.
What I want to know is should I compete in the regional (I live in Louisiana) arena in order to qualify for the NATS in Muncie or can I just compete in a few contest to get my feet wet and fly at the NATS? Is the regional IMAC championship tied to the AMA NATS in any way? Any advise would be greatly appreciated as I plan to begin competing full bore starting January 1, 2004.

In the SC region, are there many contest held in LA? Would someone competing in the SC region be required to make all contest?
