Doug,

Thank you for all of your input. I appreciate your help. I was thinking of using 2 955s receivers and separate the right and left side of the aircraft. May I ask for the pro's and con's of using only one receiver? What made you decide on one?

Thanks!
The main reason was initially that I was asked to give it a try by the guys at Horizon and see what I thought. We wanted people to understand that while 2 receivers had become the norm for the big airplanes, it was absolutely not required.

I also talked with Quique a bit at the 2002 TOC. He ran 1 receiver in his Yak-54 and felt he was getting a more solid feel on the airplane. He couldn't say why for sure, but he just felt the airplane felt better. So I tried it, and I haven't looked back. I don't know if there is any interference from using 2 rx's or not, or if one could shield the other somehow.. I just know it works.

One suggestion.. Take a piece of tape and secure the crystal into the receiver. No matter how tight you think it is.. vibration can and has worked them out with predictable results.

I finally got some pics. I made the mounting plate from light 1/4" ply. Drilled two 3" Holes for the cans and then drilled a bunch of 3/16" holes around the perimeter of the 3" hole. I then took fuel tubing and laced it through the holes. Dalton aviation makes a fiberglass plate to go over the pipes and they can make it any color you'd like the best part is that it is only two oz.

Don,
Can you give me more info on how you set up one reciever with that many servo's? Ie 4 elevator servos 4 aileron servos up to 4 rudder servos, how did you do it all?

Thanks
Rob

It's Doug And sure.. no problem. I've attached a wiring diagram I made up for my H9 Ultimate Bipe. It uses JR Matchboxes to gang the servos. Battery voltage regulators are not shown on the diagram but they're used for each battery pack. 6.0v for the servos, and 5.1v for the ignition. This setup has been solid for over 150 flights now and will be the template for my new Carden Extra 330 for next year.

Sorry Doug. I new that, not sure if it was a typing thing or a brain thing

Looks like only one elevator servo per half. If I go with two I guess the same idea, but add a matchbox in for them as well, right?

Thanks for the diagram (and all your help) that helps clarify things immensley

Hi, Rob. Here's some pictures of the baffles and sub floor for the cans. I made a different former for the cowl's bottom half as you can see in the pics. I have two bolts per side. This makes the bottom half nice and solid when you remove the top. Also I cut slots on the bottom of the fuse for the hot air to come out. I don't like the looks of a single big hole on the bottom, so I made four 1/2" x 6" slots instead.

Well it's too late for me for this Carden, but it has been building so sweet so far this might not be my last, but I have a question

What is the best way to set up the stabs with that L-bracket so that you can easily get 0.0 on a "smart tool"?? It took me most of the day and I got 0.1 on both stabs. I then cheated and added a layer of zap on to of the L braket to get it to 0.0 It will be ok until the zap rubs off!!

The sad thing is befor the smart tool I would have never known I was .1 off so I would not have cared.

So what's the trick??

While I'm at it any tricks for getting the verticle fin perfect (both 90 degrees to the wings and 0 degrees to the thrust line)

Thanks!
Rob
