Default Need help with IMAC

I'm looking for video or books to learn more about aerobatics and IMAC sequences I would like to start competing but am looking for pointers and would like to know exactly what judges are looking for at contests, so is there any recomendations out there they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tony

The best thing to do is print out the rule book and read it. Then read it again. And maybe again. Decide which class you want to start out in and print out the sequence. Go back to the rule back and break down each maneuver for your sequence to understand the possible downgrades. If you know anyone who flies IMAC or pattern (and does well at contests) ask them to watch you fly and be your coach.

Since most contests use contestant judging, there are good judges and lousy judges out there. Just like there are good flyers and lousy flyers. You don't have to be a good flyer to be a good judge, but I doubt you can be a lousy judge and a good flyer. It's all about understanding the rules and recognizing when angles and lengths of lines are correct. Some people have a good eye for the geometry and some don't.

Take a look in the marketplace to see if someone has a set of the "Wring it Out" tapes by Dave Patrick. There are 3 of these that will help with basic precision flying and a little with 3D. He also has a book available from MAN magazine (and other sources). For 3D tapes Jason Shulman has a tape available from many sources and Frank Noll, Jr. has one available from Carden http://www.carden-aircraft.com/

Being out of the loop is a problem. Hope to see you at some of the NE Region contests. You may want to get some tapes of past IMAC contests and view the sequence flying. Propwash has a good collection at http://www.propwashvideo.com/
