Default Shipping a 40% from CA to Florida

I am hoping that someone might have a solution for me. I am trying to ship my 40%Extra from Northern CA to Florida. Based on the size of the crate needed 120"x29"x29" I am being told from both Forward air and Soutwest the cost for shipping is about $500. Does anyone have a better solution? Your help is appreciated.

I just sent a crate from florida to California, the dimensions where 96Lx24wx34H, and the cost was 150.00 with 6000 dollars worth of insurance. The insurance alone was 60 dollars. the box weighed 200lbs. and it cubed out at 313lbs. thats what I got charged for. I sent mine forwardair and they where no problems to deal with. The only thing is the box was suppoosed to get there yesterday and its still not with no updates. Call them and they can estimate the shipping charges. I would not go light on the crate because you are going to get charged for the cubed price anyway so a few extra pounds wont hurt.

Have you tried Greyhound Bus Lines... Maybe someone else could chime in here, but I believe they can ship via bus for very, very cheap. You just have to drop it off at a bus depot and pick it up at a bus depot on the other end. But it is supposed to be fast, reliable, safe, and ....inexpensive. Maybe someone else can shime in with some details..Good Luck.

I used forward air. They were the least expensive at 175.00 and the plane arrived without any damage. THanks for all the help!

Try DHL. I've used them a couple of times, they're reasonable and they work good. They even pick up the crate.
