Default 35% Composite ARF

Hi Everybody. I'm looking for what different people have done with the standard ( All white with red bottom) Composite-ARF as far as paint, graphics or decorating the thing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced... Bill

Printed vinyl graphics seems to be popular now - lots of options with that. It took me a while to come up with an idea for mine, and it still isn't done. I'm not sure exactly what vinyl pallette I was working from, but "Atomic Red" is a nearly perfect match for the Comp ARF red.

Jeeze Bill, give it up man. You need to trade in that old thing for a 40%, if for no other reason than to rebuild your shrine to Harry. I happen to know someone here in Texas that might be willing to work something out for you, and it already has a scheme on it....

Altho, Tony has a great idea too... (that was too funny)

Hi Bill,

I think you've seen mine. I'm pretty sure the guy that built it started with the red/white base. It's got black, silver, and red trim painted on top. White trim paint on the bottom of the wing. Then the vinyl manufacturer graphics are added.

I'm looking forward to seeing yours, hopefully at the February contest at the Sun Valley Fliers field.

Take care,

Dean Bird

That Tony Quist, always the wise guy heheheh Yea Chips is simple enough I'll pop that out in an afternoon. Thanks Fly Falcon, thats a cool, simple scheme. Im leaning towards something like that. I'll post it here when I get it done. Hi Dean. I do like your scheme too, I'll see what I can come up with and have multiple FUTABA stickers in the design heheheh. Oh and Hi Roger, thanks again for letting fly the sled in Tucson hehehehe Seriously it was great seeing all ya'll at the Shootout and look forward to the Cave Buttes Classic in February. Make another trip out Roger, we'd love to have ya in Phoenix again. Thanks for everyones input..... Bill

Grumpy says I get one trip out a year, not that I wouldnt love to come out. If you copy Chip's scheme, you might want to give YURI HIGUCHI credit for it....

I think you should reconsider the "sled" with the engine back clean from DA, it pulls pretty nice up lines, and its already got the F-word in big bold white letters on the turtle deck. I think I could make a nice trade for say a 35% CA extra.....

Had a great time out there in October with you guys. I really appreciated the hospitality, and it was nice to see old friends. Cant wait to do it again.

I haven't sold it yet. If I don't sell it soon I can't finish the Comp ARF in time for your contest. Oh well I'm sure the Staudacher has a few more flights left in it.... Bill

Mine was PPG base coat/clear coat. Base coat is no problem, goes on like laquer. Clear coat take a little practice to keep from running. What is nice about the clear coat is that you can sand most of it off and then use fine rubbing compound and the result is fabulous. I also clear coat the painted in the mold versions with very good results. Just use a fine scotchbright pad and you are good to go.

Thanks Paul...I have done quite a bit with the base coate/clear coate painting helicopter canopies for myself and the local guys. I was just concerned about adding too much weight with the clear but if you don't go crazy I think it will be fine also. Your plane looks great by the way.

Thanks,
PaulP

Billbo, leave it in the original all-white/red bottom scheme and fly your freestyles to "Blinded By The Light" by Manfred Man. Did I tell you, Roger's "fuzzy" hat shows up several times in my first cut of the Shootout freestyles DVD. He must have been standing next to me while I was shooting and I never knew till I played back the film. I added a suprise text prompt just for his copy, referring to it's $5.00 value. LOL

heya fuzzy. i though Roger was going to send you your own copy of his pictures... what a cheapskate eh. I'm liking the blinded by the light idea..... maybe i can paint the bottom white too because now when i roll really fast, the whole plane looks pink. Roger the graphics look cool, although i am disapointed you didnt have him do "SLED DRIVER" for your name on the canopy........ I sent him pics of my plane, he is suppose to send me a proposal back... we shall see...... Bill

In the time it takes him to paint that plane I will have the Radiocraft built. the tail is hinged, rebeveled and the motor box is installed and lightened.

I think what you meant to say was "in the time it takes for him to find someone to paint it for him".....

Which Radiocraft did you get?
