Hi everyone,

I am trying to get a hold of James ( Jim ) Mears from Findlay, Ohio. I have emailed him but haven't gotten a response for several days now. I am looking for a home or cell phone or if anyone can get in touch with him personally. I recently purchased a plane from him and wanted to check in on the shipping process.

If anyone knows how to reach him or can get in touch with him personally, please let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jim Mears has ripped 3 people off that i know of now and i haven't been on RCU all that long. Sea157, myself and now Mr Athans. NOW what i want to know is how long will RCU let this sort of thing happen on such a wonderful knowledgeable site that so many people enjoy. There has got to be a way for us victims to get some satisfaction.

I can't account for the other two people, but as for myself... the short of the story is Jim and I agreed on $1600 for his 31% Edge (add # 105591) shipped via Greyhound to Houston, TX. I paid him promptly on June 13th, 2005. As of today, no airplane and no refund.

Now, to Jim's defense, he said an extenuating set if circumstances applied and he was too busy to package the plane. I told him I was willing to wait several weeks because I thought it was worth it. I lost contact with him on August 4th, 2005. He continues to sell other products on RCU and as far as I can tell, is ignoring my emails and private message attempts. He last logged into RCU on Aug 24th at 5:58pm, but no return of any PM's.

I feel as if Jim has taken my $1600 and has done with it whatever he wishes without sending the airplane in a timely manner. And now, no more communication with me. Overall, it has been almost two and a half months of waiting. I believe his priority in shipping my airplane to me or returning my money has been put on the back burner.

Can you help me out at all?

I shipped him my World Models FunWorld 3D a year ago June along with $170 to do some modifications to the tail feather (increase their size) for better 3d'ing. I read in the FW3D thread that he has performed this mod for quite a few RCU members and they were all very pleased with his work. I talked with him several times on the phone prior to shipping him my plane. He sounded like a very honest up front type person. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! its been over a year now and i haven't heard anything about my plane. I did ask this gentleman in one of his classifieds when i would be receiving my plane back in which this goodstanding member of RCU reported me to the moderator of the classifieds. I did receive an email shortly there after from both the MOD and Mr Mears. I will copy and paste Mr Mears' letter to me.

Even though i know what he did to SEA157 i will remain silent and maybe he will tell his story.

BOTTOM LINE IS: i paid and upstanding member of RCU to actually steal my plane.
I feel like a complete fool upon letting such a thing happen to me!!!.

Have you called the police yet? It's only obvious this guy is a scammer........... That's where I would start. The police in his town.
I mean, you have proof you sent the money, call em. They'll help you....

Well I not out as much money from Jim as the rest of you guys.
I am only out $135.00
The long and the short of my story is:
I bought a supposedly like new engine from Jim just to find out it needed repaired.
I ask Jim for a refund but he said he didn't have the money right now.
We came to an agreement that I would send the motor to the Manufacture for repairs and after I paid for them he would re-inverse me the repair money.
That was 10/24/04 and after MANY, MANY e-mails and PM on RCU I never heard anything from Jim again!!
BY the way this is the first time anyone on RCU, e-bay or any other for sale boards ever did anything like this to me.
I will remember the name Jim Mears for a LONG time.
