just purchased an 87" edge 540T on ebay .
don't have a 50 but I do have a 40 cc
the plane is supposed to weigh in at 15 Lbs.
will a 40 work ???

I just test flew a CA model Extra 27% at 15 lbs with a ZDZ40. The plane flew very nice with good power. Now the CA model is a much smaller plane than the one you are considering...

Unless you have a good exhaust setup -read that , a tuned system, it will require all the poop you can muster..
Even with low weight -the increased drag of simply being larger -will get you.
