I have a DA150 that is begging to be flown, but I need help on deciding what airframe to put it in. I have a Composite ARF 2.6 Extra that I have repaired or I have a 36% Ultimate (Kit) that is over half way done. The Extra I can get in the air quickly, the Ultimate is going to take a little more time. What do you think, is the 150 to much for the Extra, has anyone tried this??? The 150 will eventually go into a 110" Sukhoi that I have the molds for, but it is a long way from being done.
I am anxiously awaiting some direction.
Thanks

Hi, I would not suggest putting a 150 in the 2.6. You're looking at a host of issues that include balance, fit, power, weight, etc. I have seen this done with a 2.6 Yak and ZDZ 160 with marginal success. If you want to get in the air quickly here are a few options:
- get a more appropriate engine for the 2.6 - ZDZ 80 / 100ng, DA 100, etc.
- ARF airframe for the 150 - ToC aviation - http://www.toc1.com/ - has a line of quality arfs, as does JTtec - http://www.jtecrc.com/ - that can get you flying pretty quickly. There are others, but it's early and I've only had 1/2 a cup of coffee.
- find a used airframe, there a number of 40% aerobatic ships for sale right here in the marketplace.
Bottom line, not that it can't be done, but I believe it would be a mistake to try and make the 150 work in a 2.6 airframe.
Hope this helps.
