Well, my Mom is home from the hospital, and she's (mind you, just a little) more important than flying contests. Not to mention that Gerhard has my engine! Oh, well. Good luck, all - especially on the unknowns - you'll need it. BTW, Curtis, move up, just not to Intermediate LOL!
Matthew Laine
P.S. Hope to see y'all at the NATS

Mathew,
We missed you today but your right, your mom and family are much more important than flying our toy airplanes.
We had a fantastic day. Four rounds, solid flying all day. Great weather.
One Mishap with Brian and a Basic pilot. They met up with eachother in mid flight. Not good.
I told Curtis yesterday when he showed up that we all took a vote and he was being moved up to Sportsman. He said ok.
He flew the sequence this morning and it looked fine but he chickened out and flew this contest in Basic.. This is his last one he says in Basic. I told him he needed to start flying unknowns. He'll do fine.
Now if someone could tell me how to do a 3/4 neg snap from upright followed by a 1-1/34 (bottom rudder) positive snap to upright by 0900 Sunday morning I'll feel better.

Just got back from the HAWKS field and man, what a great contest!!
first off, Matthew, we missed you this weekend but family is WAY more important. tell your mom and dad that Jenn and I wish them well and speedy recovery from your mom's surgery.
as Wayne said, Saturday was a fantastic day for flying a contest. Even after Brian's midair he spend most of the day volunteering to sit and judge. that shows alot about his character and the spirit of the NC! we all hope he gets everything together for the NATS!
Sunday was an even better day for flying than Saturday! clear blue skies and low winds. we got the typical round of unkowns, knowns and freestyle and I think almost everybody was on the road by 2:00. Ric and his crew deserve a huge pat on the back for all thier efforts. the entire contest was well organized and ran like clockwork. the HAWKS field is an amazing facility and I hope it will be the site of many future IMAC events. thank you Hamilton Hawks and Ric Musselman!

I completely agree with Hubby.
This was one of the better contests I have been to. Ric and his club made it look like they have been doing this for years.
Way to go guys! Please do this one again next year.
Hats off to Sanik! He showed a lot of class by hanging out and pitching in with judging after his horrific start of the day Saturday.
Let us know if you need anything Brian.

Mathew.... best wishes to Mom from me and my family! That comes first...
Hey!! Pictures! I'm famous......
and yes... I wussed out.. I admit it.. I flew the sequence a bit more on Saturday and feel better... Will give it a shot in Kentucky.. then maybe be gunning for Mathew in Intermediate later on!!!
but I think Bob in sportsman is enough of a hurdle for now...
Great Contest.. Great fun camping out.. I stayed up WAaaaay past my bed time.. and it was great seeing Will come out and fly some freestyle.. Wayne, you are next...time to bring some freestyle out.. even I might do it!!
Well.. I'm tired.. great weekend... Thanks Ric! and good luck to all at the Nats.. CYA in Kentucky
Cheers
Curtis
Oh yea...Brian is one classy young man for how he handled the mid air...... and the rest of the weekend...
I still think he should have "flown" the freestyle though!!
(man, some wierd ideas come up after midnight at IMAC contests!!!

Wayne-
Jon and I were at the LVRCS contest this weekend and had the pleasure of flying the Unlimited unknown...... what did you score on #8? Jon, myself, Paul Sandys and Chris Maier= all zeros. 3/4 neg snap was fine- the 1 3/4 positive snap was the killer.... tried as we did to keep altitude it was not easy with the figure 9 with two snaps down preceding- oh, and we had a cloud ceiling to deal with.
We had a lot of fun, though.

Dave,
We had four guys flying it and only one of us zero-ed it. I am not sure what he did. Looked like maybe went same direction.
I dont know what I scored on it anything was better than what I thought I was going to get.

I really had a great time this weekend. As you might have read that we were able to get four rounds in on Saturday, and two on Sunday for a really full weekend of flying. It was certainly a joy to have such willing people to just jump right up and judge whenever needed. It would not have been possible without such selfless people that we have here in the NC. It really is a great region. As it was mentioned before the only thing that I would change is the mid-air, that was truly a bummer..... BUT once again it is amazing how ppl in the NC just step up and offer plane/parts/whatever to get Brian back in the air, truly SELFLESS. I love it when people check their egos at the front gate and just be friends first, and competitors second. That to me is what I will remember most about the weekend, from the contestants, to the club volunteers and my wife. I wish you all the best at the NATS, and I will see you all in Burlington, KY.
Ric Musselman
Just a note to all of those that were not able to make it: WE MISSED YOU ALL! (including you "SCALE SKIRTS") I hope that next year you will be able to attend. Matthew, I hope that your Mom is feeling better and hope and pray for her.

curtis, i cut out that toothpick today, so i dont have to "lug" the extra weight arround. hehehe.
ric, like i told you that was a GREAT contest. other than the mishap i had fun. and it is great to know that all the NC boys want to keep there competitors in the air. i am truly greatful to be assocated with this group. thanks again all. later.
