Default 2007 SC IMAC Bootcamp

Guys

I have started thinking about a new bootcamp for next year. I want to try and do close to the same as we did last year. Hopefully I can get a couple of unlimited guys to help also. Would anyone be interested in coming? I will check with the Mt. Pleasent club and see if we can use their site again. Last year we went over reading aresti to the sportsman level, worked on flying straight, and trimming. I also plan to work on keeping in the box better. We will also practice judging again this year. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to post and lets get a good thread going. I plan to utilize as many ideas as feasible to help make another good year of IMAC for newcomers as wel as us old farts for the next flying season.

I would be interested in attending. A good discussion on wind correction would also be a good topic.

Eddie,

Maybe more people would attend if it was an "IMAC Workshop" instead of a "bootcamp". "Bootcamp" doesn't sound like a good time.

I can hook you up with the Michael Wyman. His club is hosting the IMAC Workshop and Basic/Sportsman contest scheduled for January in Mesa, Arizona. Maybe you guys can compare notes and share ideas. Michael's event will have the Workshop on Saturday, then the contest on Sunday.

Good luck with your event!!

GREAT IDEA

Bootcamp does sound like to much work huh. Dean N. I am hoping this year Rick Byrd can come down and help with wind correction. This field is real close to a lake and we get good breezes coming off of it. If anyone is interested in looking at the site their website is www.clubnetrc.com they have pictures of the field there. It is located in Mt. Pleasent. Tx. Northeast Tx.

D. Bird

any help would be greatly appreciated, I know last year created around 5 new pilots for us that flew regularly at contests. I like it also, becauses it introduces folks to flying with a purpose.

Hi Eddie: I am ready to help just like last year. That site is beautiful and perfect for a real, regular IMAC contest! I hope we can get it on the schedule. Would you touch base with the club officers and see if they would be willing to help us put on a contest?

Bobby

P.S. Call me if/when you want to discuss any aspect of the "workshop" or "contest".

Dude Im there wherever it is. I want to learn to Judge more properly. I feel like im a presentation judge more than anything judging only how the pilot presents each maneuver. I judged an intermediate class this year and was pretty darn lost when the roller came up. I understand it but really dont know what to look for as well as a few other maneuvers..So heck yeah. IMAC workshop sounds better too.

Count myself in again this year. I am sure Conrad is up for it as well. I am currently working on getting a 33% Wildhare Extra 260 in the air..gathering all of the parts and pieces. I hope to hit the IMAC thing a little harder next year. It was hard this past year with a new baby...makes the days a lot shorter. :-)

Blue Skies,
Howie

Ditto what Scott said. I NEED the Workshop/bootcamp or what ever you would like to call it. Just let me know when and where.
Heck I might even bring the donuts again LOL.........
Will there be two workshops? One to teach how to judge, and one to teach the newbies new to IMAC?

Well, last year most of Sat was ground school which is where you learned the ins and outs of what to do and how to do it (it being the maneuvors) which is the same as what to look for when you judge but mainly how to do the maneuvors. Sunday was actual flight day and mini contest. Also, some of you wanted help in trimming out your planes which we did. So to answer you question yes.

Now the SC judging school that Rick Byrd is talking about is a real judging school and you really learn the details of what to look for. That is where we got the red books!! Hopefully, the second day Rick will show us what to look for by actually flying incorrect maneuvors and having us judge them. It is well worth the two day effort.

Guys

As you can tell Bobby will help and rick has already contacted me and said he would too. I am looking at dates right after the first of the year, give us time to recoup after Christmas and New Years. Last year we haad a 2 day event and it went real well. I am working on a tentative agenda for the workshop. I am reading this thead daily and will keep in touch here.

Eddie I can help and learn as well.

Since we are having a seperate F&J seminar. I would recomend tayloring the agenda to flying instead of judging.
I like the way you did it last year.
We could just go over the Basic and Sportsman Known sequences with a stick plane stopping to discuss each manuever.
I could do a Basic and Sportsmab building block breakdown like last year.
Then you could have an upper class pilot fly the basic and sportsman sequence so we all see what it should look like.
Then we could do the two flight lines like you did last year one for trimming/setup, and individual manuever practice, and the other for flying the entire known sequence then receiving immidate feedback from the trainers and judges.

The second day we could have a two round Basic and Sportsman Contest Where basic flies two rounds of knowns and sportsman flies one round of knowns and one round of unknowns. If you santion it Sportsman Pilots could get points tword the SC Regional Points challenge.

Just some ideas..

Dan
Good ideas

Rick said he would come and help with wind correction, if that works out we wil do alot more flying than sitting and talk about judging for sure. I do want to keep it simple and do basic and sportsman and even thought of doing a 1.20 class and smaller. I think we could increase our enrollment by not intimadating guys that don't or can't fly the 35% or bigger planes. I will be talking with Doug this week to see if everything will be ok as last year and then getting with you, Bobby, Rick, and possibly Ryan and Phil. Naturally any of the guys that fly or have been flying are welcome to assist hint hint Fisher, Durant, McDonald, Pharr, Holt, Cole just to name a few I want it to be as fun and informal but yet a good learning experience too.

Depending on the weekend, I should be in. I'm hooked on Pattern but will fly some IMAC next year.

I'm very interested in the Judging school as well.

Thanks for doing it again Eddie.

UDET

Love to have you over. I am looking at dates now and will have some posted soon so plans can be made. I plan to contact local hotels to get good rates for everyone again. I have spoke with Doug and Gus about using the field again, they saw no problem but are bringing it up with their membership at the meeting in a couple of weeks to OK it.
