Default SE IMAC Bootcamp

Anybody know of a Southeast region Boot-camp being planned. I would love to attend one but Texas is just too far to drive from GA.
Thanks,
Bob

We have held a Basic IMAC clinic in Alabama each spring for the past 3 years to introduce potential new competitors to the sport. If there is enough interest, we will have another this spring. We are also considering a Sportsman / Intermediate clinic to have upper class pilots pass along their knowledge to those who may already be competing.

If you want to get together before then, come over to Montgomery or Prattville some weekend and we'd be happy to do some IMAC'n with you.

I know Stan is looking to put together a clinic for interested Basic class pilots in the South Carolina area.
Also as Chris said, the alabama crew is a great bunch of guys.
You can come over to McDonough, and fly with a couple of IMAC guys from the south side.
Most of the IMAC guys in metro atlanta are on the north side.
If interested, let me know and we can get together sometime.

How about a boot-camp for everyone to go to. Maybe we could just get together and have a few folks talk about different thing and have few class on set-up and trim, different techniques that people use and, fly some rounds and get help, on what everyone is doing wrong. I know i suck, but ever time I go to a contest, I learn a lot of good information and my flying seems to improve. I know that there are things that I do wrong but dont know how to fix them, and would like all the help I can get.

Josh,
My club did this a couple of years ago.
We invited John Glezellis to come to our field and work with pilots.
He agreed, we covered all his expenses and gave him a little something as a thank you.
I announced it and got several people from my club and a couple from other clubs to attend.
I can't remember the IMAC list I put it on, but since it wasn't an IMAC event, I could not record it as an event.
I think the cost was $25 for two days.
He adjusted everyones planes first to his liking then you could go from there.
I had a problem with mine and I think it was the CG but the plane flew great after he finished.
I didn't understand why we didn't get more response but it wasn't for trying.

Any thing at all within 4 or 5 hrs drive and I will do my damdest to be there. That sounds good as well Geistware. Count me in if it happens again. All you guys, I appreciate the invite. I will take you up on them some day. Any thing that can help flatten the learning curve before the first contest.

Digger,

Kept an eye out on the IMAC SE home page and contest schedule since that is where we will post the scheduled clinics / bootcamps. A lot of discussion is in the works about format, dates, etc. at this time but we will let you guys know what is up in plenty of time. Best bet right now is to get together with some other current IMACers and just start flying the sequence. Getting comfortable with the manuvers with the guidance of someone who knows exactly how they are expected to be performed will go a long way toward getting the most out of a clinic.

To everyone:
Just one idea; if we could get enough pilots and instructors, a combined Basic, Sportsman, Intermediate clinic along with some basic judging guidelines would make for a super clinic. Perhaps a Friday night-school before two days of flying with a small entry fee to cover expenses. Might be in Feb. 2007. What do you think?

Chris

Hi All, as Chris mentioned, there likely will be at least one formal SE bootcamp scheduled over the winter. There are also plans in the works for two judging clinics, as there were two years ago. (Sidenote: I encourage all - newcomers and veterans alike - to attend one the judging schools. There are several rules changes that go into effect for the '07 season, and there is not a single one of us who doesn't need a refresher from time to time. Watch the IMAC site for bootcamp and Judging school schedules.)
Now, not that I'm a Glezellis or anything, but if Josh, and any others in the northern part of the region NC / VA would like to get together some weekend over the winter (within 3 - 4 hours of Richmond VA) I'd be more than happy to pass on some of the things I've picked up over the past few years, help people with aircraft setup, cover the basics of sequnce flying, etc. Please feel free to give me a shout if you're interested.

Chris,
If you have one that encompasses Sportsman, let me know.
I will make it over to Alabama.

Would there be an intrest of doing one in the s. fla area in dec. I would be interested in doing one if the intrest is there.
While you think about that one don't forget about the Amps Aerobatics Challenge in Miami Fed 10th and 11th .

Tony,

Have you had a lot of interest in a judging seminar in December in S. FL? I know Wayne is working on something in March.

Thanks,
Mike R
