Default Sig Extra 300XS CG ??????????

Hello all,

Wondering if those of you who have this plane had to add nose-weight to get it to balance out?? I have hitec 625 elev servos and Saito 180. Can't figure out why it would be so tail heavy with all the recommended equipment installed?? It's at least 3/4" aft of the SIG's recommended test flight CG?? (27%) Its at 33%?? Is this normal for this airplane!!

Thanx in advance for any advice or assistance!!

Bob

Just add some easily removable nose weight in it for your first flight just so you are a little more comfortable on the first flight. Then, when you see how it will fly when the gas gets low decide how much of the weight you want to take out. Probably all of it.

Sure beats moving everything around in the plane only to have to move it right back.

I have the exact same plane and engine combo.
Had to add 16oz to get it to balance with the manual.
Move the battery to the front access hatch and add weight from there.
Should help.

Lean 540:

I assume you mean the Saito 180? I'm finishing up the same combo but I haven't mounted the engine yet - not too late for a change. How's the performance?

Default Chris:

I have been really busy this week but intend to give it the once over tommorow after work and put it in the air on Saturday.
I will let you know if it goes well, if not, I promise to post the pictures.
By the way, to all of you Americans:
Every Canadian that I know is embarassed by our governments decision not to support America in this war.
I would be over there pounding sand along side those boys right now if I had the opportunity.

Lean540,

Thats sure good to hear - I've got a young cousin that's driving a Marine tank thru S. Iraq right now and my brother-in-law is headed for Kosovo as a Blackhawk pilot. We may not always agree with our governments but you ALWAYS back up those who are fighting and dying for our sakes.
