One interesting question garnered is whether or not one aerobatic model is better for someone at a sportsman level but not for someone at an unlimited level. Example: Better to fly an Extra in sportsman, but a CAP in Unlimited.
A few comments of Peter's that I enjoyed:
"At this point I would like to tell you a little secret: I am not a great freestyle pilot. Yep, that's right, I am the only guy at the TOC that can't hover at knee height for four minutes."
He's being modest... he's not the only guy.
"The Cap also presents very well in snap maneuvers, and it has a spectacular rotation with precise start and stops, which is also crucial for accurate flying. Also, in a snapping maneuver, the Cap has very minimum heading loss on vertical and horizontal lines compared to other designs."
To true... and is why I think the CAP spanks the Edge in IMAC.
"Having said that, Caps can be difficult to fly precisely in the pitch axis, and their agility comes at a price. This can be over come by cg location but they are generally not as naturally stable as other designs in pitch."
Also too true... and I think the quintessential example of that (although Peter may have only been talking about precision flying) is torque rolling. It is probably why he thinks he can't torque all day kneehigh... but if you've ever watched him he's being =very= modest... as he looks as good torq'n as anyone. But, every CAP I've flown has been very pitchy while TR'n. No problem controlling the rudder... but you better stay ahead of that elevator.
"I love em'. I love all their habits, they have character, and they continually challenge my skills."
Me too, me too... I think they totally have character. I always seem to gravitate back towards Cappys. In an ad they are the first planes that catch my eye.

Having spent quite a bit of time flying both the Radiocraft 330L and Aeroworks arf Edge, I can honestly say that the 330L is the better of the two. Also the lighter. I have seen several at 23lbs. with the BME 102. Having said that, any of these airframes mentioned in this thread are quite capable if set up properly. The real issue is how much fuel you are willing to burn and how disciplined you are in your pursuit of the perect sequence. There is no substitute for stick time!!!
