Let me just say one thing. WOW! If there were more contests like Abilene, we would have a waiting list for people wanting to get into IMAC. Abilene RC put on a great contest. I have been going to contest for two years now and I have never seen so much public support for an IMAC event until the Abilene contest. I knew we were in for a great weekend when spectators and TV crews started showing up on Friday in preparation for the weekend event. The TV crews did promo shots and even did an interview with AJ while AJ was flying; now that was scary.

10s also go to Daniel and George for the great leadership they presented at the event. Abilene provided the platform and these guys came in and made the contest a great event. Daniel and George performed numerous demo flights throughout the event and kept the public amazed with IMAC talent.

George Hicks also put on a judging seminar before the event started. This was a much-needed class that enlightened the new as well as old IMACers on the technique of judging. This class was a great success that was shown by looking at the consistency between the judges during the event. Thanks again George.

Clint, sorry you didn’t get to make the contest. I look forward in flying with you at Kingsbury.

Thanks for the kind words Duane. Great seeing you again and let me know on the Stika!

Many thanks go out to Abilene's club. I've been attending their fly in's since 1989, so I knew up front they were the place to be for a good contest. There hard work and dedication is something to be seen. They don't really have any active IMAC members and they still throw themselves completely at an event.

Having George Hicks in attendance really made the event, though. I was prepared to try and take care of the judging issues, but could not have come anywhere close to doing the job like he did. It really took a load off my mind!

Me and George promise to get the formation hovering demo thing more under control for future events. It was kind of impromptu, and basically a little scary doing that unrehearsed!

I'll try with the results, Duane chime in if you can fill in the blanks. I got out of there without a final score sheet.

Here is a updated list of the top three.

Daniel and George did put on a great show with the formation freestyle. A great kodak moment that I missed was when both planes were a few inches off the ground doing a torque roll and George's plane moved between Daniel and his plane . I must say the Daniel has "use the force" powers to keep it in a hover without being able to see it. Great show.
