not exactly imac
well this seems to be the only fourn soley devoted to this type of aircraft
so i have a question for you who are more experienced than i i have a giles 202 by greatplanes in order for it to be balanced it would take 2 more ounces on the tail(61 sf) but i can fly it the way it is my problem is that any more than a breath of elevator and it snaps what can i do to fix this so i can get started into aerobatics with this baby one more i also have a 60 size cap 21 it has a 60 inch wingspan and a foam core wing but i don't know the cg i'm guessing 33.333 % of the wing cord at the fuse am i right? any info on these would be helpful |
RE: not exactly imac
To be honest with you, do you have too much Elevator throw? I have been flying this plane for two seasons and found I needed to reduce the elevator rate and use generous amounts of expo and it flys like a dream. I also have a very rear biased CG. How do you know the CG is too nose heavy?

RE: not exactly imac
sorry if this sounds dumb but what is expo
and if i ballance it acording to the plans it takes 2 aditional ounces on the tail (i already have 2 on it) you may be right on the throw but all i can do is a big lazy loop of like 200 feet withought it snapping thanks for the help |
RE: not exactly imac
Don't put any more weight on the tail!! That will increase your snapping problem. How is your rudder trim? Check it by flying straight up and see if it falls to the same side every time. Trim the rudder to make it fly straight up.
Expo is a computer radio thing. WHat kind of radio are you using? CJ |
RE: not exactly imac
i have a 4 channel airtronics in it but i have a futaba 6xa i can use if this will help
|
RE: not exactly imac
Your airtronics doesn't have expo. Your best bet is to do what Rick said and reduce your elevator throw until the plane just stalls (or snaps). Check your CG in the air by rolling inverted and see how much elevator push it takes to hold level. A lot of push means your nose heavy. Some is good. None is bad.......ad nose weight. Make sure your rudder trim is adjusted as I described above and have fun with it!

RE: not exactly imac
dose expo help alot
can someone explain this i have a 6xa will this work |
RE: not exactly imac
Expo makes the controls "soft" near center. In other words, if you move the stick half travel, the airplane surface will only move one fourth of full travel. The second half of stick travel will then command the remaining 3/4 of surface travel. It is nice for a very sensitive aircraft like your CAP. It's essential for 3D set-ups, nice for sport, but not required for fun flying.

RE: not exactly imac
well i'll try those sugestions tomorrow but while i'm at it do any of you know anything about balancing a plane that you don't know the cg on like my cap
|
RE: not exactly imac
I have put over 120 flights on my plane before I sold it. I had my CG at 9 inches and it makes the plane land a lot slower. You also need to make sure that your elevator is balance through-out the travel.
