I too, am looking for Servos to put into this plane. I don't want to spend $100 each for digital servos.. I purchased a 9C radio from Servocity, and their recommendation the very next day was to go with Hitec servos.. lol.. I'd rather stick with all Futaba equipment. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

Hitec servo's are okay, just a little heavy. I know there's some that hate em and some people that love em. Same with any other servo. I think you can pick up some decent servos for like 55 buchs a peice. (I did, but not for my edge) Otherwise from JR or Futaba, you're gonna be paying at least 75.00 per servo.

moose carbon fiber/edge540

Not to be pessimistic, but i snapped my moose on a landing. They are light but incredibly thin, ordered the graphtech/troybuilt blue carbon fibers for the edge, weighs a little bit more but much, much, better built. I don't have anyghing against Moose, but mine did not hold up.

Thats the diff beteen a wet lay-up (moose) and a Autoclave Properly cured..If I spelled autoclaved right..The twenty bucks diff was worth it...

The RCS 180 is 3.15 LBS. Isn't that heavey ? A brison 2.4 is only 2.75 lbs aand more power.

Any thoughts ?

RCS

Agreed the RCS 1.40 I have is 2.9 lbs but for a little more weight and another 100 bux I could have had a ZdZ 40...twice the cc's.

But, the 1.40 does fit nice in any 1.20 sized application. Just a nice little motor.

If I had to do it all over again...I'd go with the ZdZ 40.

High Flights!

Rcrig, I have the ST 3000 in mine and it came out to 12.4 lbs. Some mods to the wing mounts and tank on the cg with a perry pump. I'm in love.... The Moki 1.8 has an edge on power but my ST fits inside the cowl without cutting it. St swings a 20-8 pro zinger @ 6800, so the vert is very good.

Think I am going with the ZDZ 40, or maybe the ZDZ 50.

A friend has one of these with a BME 50 on it, and it is the most awsome flying of its class. Unlimited vertical, speed, etc. Please don't believe a lite weight gasser won't work. It does!!!..

I've got a Poulan 36cc in mine. 14.7lbs ready to go. I have been flying it with a Pro Zinger 18x8, today I tried a MA Scimitar 20x8. Much better vertical performance, hangs on the prop all day at about 7/8 throttle and slowly climbs out wide open. Not bad for a motor that I paid $88 for from Wal-Mart.

flipflop, I assume you put on an electronic ignition?

Yep, C-H ignition. Not a difficult conversion. They are making a bolt on kit for the small series of Poulan motors now. This little motor handles the 20x8 really well, it surprised me.
