I have an installation problem that won't allow perfect alignment of a P-70 ( in a bypass) and the tailpipe. Is there an 'acceptable' missalingment? This is off less than 5 degrees. It's understood that tailpipe life will be shortened, but hoping that it is not an imminent hazard.

Hello,
Unfortunately I do not know of any hard and fast rules. I would also be worried about some strange asymmetrical thrust resulting from the alignment. And of course cooling as well.
Can you use a smaller pipe and be able to line up the turbine better? The pipe does not have to be centered within the scale nozzle you know. BVM does this with good effect on the F-4, and it makes for a less severe "Y" junction in the tailpipe.
Good luck. Do you have any pictures of what you are up to? Maybe that would help in strategizing an approach.
