p70 max thrust

My Feedback: (10)
Hi Anurag,
Well as you can imagine this is a tough question. The conversions for temperature and pressure and humidity are not simple.
We have recently measured P-70's at 16.6 pounds thrust on a 104 F (40 C) day. In our experience this would be around 19 pounds, or a bit more, on so called Standard Temperature and Pressure day.
We have also measured other vendors motors in an attempt to corroborate this and other parameters (fuel consumption, etc). If these other turbines put out their rated thrust at STP, then the P-70 would be putting out over 19.6 pounds at STP, again based on how we measured other turbines.
Sorry for such a complex answer, but this thrust number is hot topic right now and we have to be clinical in our answers. As Jason Burg said, the P-70s are loafing at 123K RPM and on tear down some with dozens of hours run time are nearly indestinguishable from new ones .
