Default Kangaroo Mount question

Howdy! I have a P-120 that I mounted on a test stand using a Kangaroo mount. While running the engine up, I noticed that the engine itself would move forward slightly within the mount, no more than maybe 1/2 inch or so. As the engine budged forward, the glowplug pushed the forward section of the mount forward, as shown by the red arrow in the attached picture. I took the engine out and re-mounted it again, making sure it was mounted as tightly as possible, gave it another test run, and the same thing happened. At high power settings the engine edges forward slightly inside the mount. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, just wanted to check.

I normally bond some sandpaper into the inside of the mount as a precaution, having the turbine move forward 1/2 inch is not acceptable. Having said that I have no personal experience with the Kangaroo mount.

If the sandpaper does not work call JetCat USA ASAP to help get you squared away!

That's pretty clever, I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks Matt, I'll give it a shot.

I have had a couple JetCat mounts get loose over time - a HotSpot mount and a standard mount as included w/ P120. Rather than use sandpaper, I have cut some 1" strips of thin (.025"-.05" or so) neoprene rubber sheet to take up the slack. It does not move around when tightening up the mounts and doesn't scratch up the case or mount (sorry Matt!).

I have found the sheet neoprene material at an Ace hardware store, sold as gasket material...auto parts stores might have some as well.

Rather than scratch up that nice shiny case with sandpaper, smear a layer of RPV High Temp silicone on the inside of the straps (let it cure before mounting the turbine)....It will never ever move!

Great ideas! The local hardware stores didn't have any neoprene sheets, so I'm gonna try the high-temp silicone. Got some on order and it should be here by the end of the week!
