Glad to help, but you have to provide more information.

I am assuming the battery that died was in the plane.

You need to tell me what you did to bind. Bind Plug, lights blinking or not, etc. Did anything work? Does his old radio still work?

Is the friends radio a older 9303 with a 1.4 module in the back? If it is, you may need to change the modulation in the radio.

Why did you need to bind to different radio.

As was mentioned above, any radio using a 2.4Ghz Conversion Module, that supports both PCM and PPM Modulation, must be set to PPM or it will not Transmit on 2.4Ghz. The Modulation parameter is located in the System Menu of the radio.

If the second radio you mentioned is not JR/Spektrum or the 2.4 Module is not JR/Spektrum, it will not Bind to a JR/Spektrum compatible Rx.

Both radios are spektrum radios. When binding I put the battery into the plane and wait for it to start flashing, then I hold the bind switch in on the back of the X9303 and turn it on. then let go of the bind switch. The plane never stops flashing. For the radio that came with the plane: plug the battery into the plane wait for flashing, then push in the left stick and turn on the radio pull the stick down and let go. the plane never stops flashing.

I have experienced the same phenomena when trying to Bind near a large metal hangar at an airport. Horizon told me to move away from the hangar and try it again. It worked perfectly. There are probably other situations that might result in this problem, as well.

Have you tried Binding with another Tx?

how about if you don't let go of the bind button on the transmitter for some time. Right or wrong, I've always held mine in (DX7) until the binding was complete, THEN let it go.

it may take 10-15 seconds perhaps. Try holding it longer.

The bind process is started by the button and continues until completion, no matter how long you hold the button. It's like the trigger on a gun - once the gun fires (the bind process starting), the round flies until it reaches its target.

andy - thanks for the info! That'll save some fingers when we're binding.

Does the TX go into low power mode during the bind process like it does during a range check? Just wondering how it works..

Glad to see you clarify that - The other point with Bind n Fly - ALWAYS turn on tx first before adding battery to the model .
This is of course for model which is already bound .
We fly each week at an indoor meeting of all Bind n fly models and turning on model first - the link up is sometimes blocked -till the battery is removed - then replaced.

I do transmitter (encoder/user interface) code, not RF. How that part works is just "black magic" imho. I'll be happy to answer basic questions, or DX8-related programming questions.
