Original (DB 25)Datasafe interface
Will the original Datasafe with the DB 25 interface software work with Windows XP? If not, is there an upgrade path to one that does?

It can work, but many times is it difficult to get it to work properly. Datasafe 2 was designed to work with windows XP, there is not a upgrade for the original available.
