Default 9303

Danny,

Is there anything about the 9303 that would make me want to stick with the 8103 (digital trims)? I don't need 30 model memory, 10 is more than enough. Please give me the good, bad and ugly. Thanks.

The 9303 to me is easier to program, especially for complex programming, and it in general has more features than the 8103. If you are in the market for a new system, the 9303 would definitely be worth considering. Which system would be better for you depends on the features and capabilities that you need. The only advantage of the 8103 has over the 9303 if you were to buy one or the other is price. But don't get me wrong, the 8103 is a great radio system. The 9303 is just a step up from the 8103.

Thanks Danny!

I just wanted to make sure there weren't any silly things going on with the 9303 that would have me longing for the old radio back. I'll go ahead with the 9303 then. Happy flying!

Hey Danny,

A bit of an understatement there !!

"The 9303 is just a step up from the 8103.", that to me is like saying that the space shuttle is just another glider !!

From what I can see, Horizon have made the right choice in getting JR to add extra functions to the 9X before they took in board as the 9303 !!!

Looking foward to the day that I get my grubby little mits on one !!

Mac Man

Is the 9X able to be fitted with the manual throttle trim?

Mac Man,

This question may be moot since I live in the US, but I'd be curious to know a few examples of the improvements.

Thanks,

Lance

30 model memory verses 20
Manual Throttle trim verses digital, and without due diligence further programing changes to some of the software in the model setups.

The 9X and the 9303 share the same aero features, however when it comes to the Heli side and especially the Glider side, there are numerous additional mixes that are just not available on the 9X.

From what I have seen ( by comparing the manual to what we have here ) ..

Heli : Additional mixes increasing it from 3 to 6, Additional Governer function, Swash types increased from 4 - 6, Additional cyclic to throttle mixing for Aileron, Elevator and Rudder.

Glider : 5 Flight modes, the inclusion of the device select, flight mode delays, additional motor hold, increase in number of timers.

Additional is the increase from 20 - 30 model memories, the addition of Analog trim on the throttle ( some may say this is a step back, but its a personal choice ).

Imac, further to your previous, I succesfully added a manual trim to the 9X today. Only problem is that the existing trims (from previous sets ) do not physically fit the mounts ! Grrrr Grrrr Grrrrr ! But I had it fully functioning on the bench, however I doubt if this will become available as a retrofit. Plus it would have to back to Distributor for implementing as you have to access the calibration settings.

Thanks Mac Man

I was talking to Adam Butler From Airsail about this and he thought it may not be possible due to software issues. From your work it would appear that if we can order a 9303 trim unit it should work. I will follow this up.

Thanks again
Alan

Wow! Those are pretty significant bonuses for us sailplane folks. I'm glad Horizon took the time to add those features.

Thanks again for the great info
