New JR Radio
Danny just got off the phone with Horizon sales and got on the list for the 8103 replacement radio. Can you give details of this radio?
They said it would be the 7202, 7 channel 20 model memory.

RE: New JR Radio
That is correct. 7 channel, 20 model memory, 2 model type. Case is similar to the 6102 system, programming is similar to the 8103. The transmitter is synthesized along with the R790 synthesized receiver.

RE: New JR Radio
I have a JR R700 FM slimline receiver. It has a crystal for channel 45 in it. I want to use it with another tx on channel 19. Will I have any problems with changing to a lower frequency crystal? One of the guys in my club told me JR has high and low band receivers and you cannot switch crystals between them. Is this true or is he just blowing smoke?
I really like JR radios, especially the 6 channel computer radios. I have a 662 and really like it. I also have a 622, but I think I fried something inside recently while I was trying to remove the battery. I checked the fuse and it checks good, but it will not power up anymore. Any suggestions?

RE: New JR Radio
JR receivers are not split into high and low bands. You should have no troubles. It sounds like there is some damage to the system and it will need to be sent in for service. Please begin a new thread when you want to ask a question unrelated to the thread topic.

RE: New JR Radio
Guys,
Does anybody know of any reviews that have been done of the 7202? I know it hasn't been officially released yet, and won't be until June. I was hoping they might have leaked a couple a prototypes out for reviews. I like the functions and all, but the proof is in how well it actually performs.
Also, how do you think it will stack up against the Futaba 7CHP...these are the two radios I'm looking at right now for my next TX.
Doug
I sent an e-mail to Horizon to ask them about a timer function on the 7202, but haven't gotten an answer yet. I'll post what their reply is later.

As the 7202 is just being released, I doubt any revisions will be available any time soon. I'll pass along your feedback.
I do not know of any reviews of the system yet.

[&o]Bad news for those of us that want a timer!!! Horizon sent me a reply today, saying the 7202 will not have a timer function on it. They didn't say much other than that.
[8D]I Guess in a pinch you could use the stop watch feature on your wrist watch!!![8D]

RE: New JR Radio
What is the model number for this radio OUTSIDE the USA? Will it be available in the U.K.? If so will it have programming different from the USA version?
These questions, and a non USA unit in hand can answer the timer question as well as other hidden goodies that may not be available to the US.
Anyone know the answers?

RE: New JR Radio
Mlancast,
I've already written Horizon with more questions about some of the most sought after features I look for in a radio. I asked about a Flaperon feature, and dual elevator servo function too. I like to have a radio I can grow with. When you fly some of the bigger birds these features are handy to have too. I'll post the answers they send me.
I guess I could write them back to see if there will be differences in the U.S. version, versus the "across the pond" version. (Nothing against England, just not sure what to call it) To me, it seems odd that they would have different features from one country to the next. I guess they could have good reasons for that though.
I'll post again when they send me more info.
But...For right now? I'm starting to lean toward a Futaba 9CAPS. nearly twice as expensive, but it has what I want. I'll keep my fingers crossed, cause I'm hoping JR can give me what I want in a cheaper package!
See Ya, Doug

RE: New JR Radio
Okay, it's a done deal. I sent your questions to Horizon about possible differences between the U.K. and the U.S. versions of this TX. I asked for contact info for who would know about the U.K. version if it does turn out to have changes from the U.S. version. It's been taking them about 2 days to get back with me on answers. I'll post what they send as soon as I get it!

RE: New JR Radio
The chances are that this radio will be known as the 2720 ( 2 types, 7 channels, 20 model memories) but at the moment we have not had a sight of it (apart from the Graupner/JR version at Nuremberg) so we do not know what differences there will be.
As JR will PROBABLY release the 2720 at Shizuoka, we may find out shortly. Once I know the features, I will be posting it on the MacGregor website.

I have not had a 7202 in my hands as of yet, however from the list of functions in the system, it does not include a timer.

Per page 37 of the 7202 manual, there is an 'integrated timer' and instructions wrt use.

The timer function is alive and well in the 7202. p.37 of the 7202 manual hat the use and operation of this 00:00:00 integrated timer.
