Danny, I got an used 10X which is less than one year old (according to seller). Everything is perfect, just that the LCD contrast is low. I did adjust it to the optimal point, but still not so good.

Is this common to 10X screens?

It is not really an issue at this point, I am just afraid whether it is going to get weaker over time.

No, it is not common. If you aren't able to get it adjusted with contrast adjust there may be something wrong with the screen and it may be best to send it in for a check up.

I also bought a 10X second hand but it is a bit older. It had a new screen fitted just before Christmas and I needed to put it in a certain position for the light to hit it and make it easier to read and it was just not clear. I have found out why. The new screen did not have the plastic protector removed. Good for protection but not good for seeing through. As you can see, it is a lot clearer now. Not as dark as my JR X378 screen but a lot better. Is your answer that simple? Check it out. The X378 has a lighter screen so the symbols and lettering stand out more. Sneaky stuff that plastic.[>:]
