Default TX on Lipoly?

Looking for an official opinion (hope from someone at the JR camp), will a 3 cell lipoly that places sell for transmitters (10x is one in question) do any harm? They are not much more than a full charged nimh or nicad pack as far as I can tell.

So?

I have two JR XP9303 Tx's that have 2500mah 3cell LiPos. I have been using them for over a year and a half without any issues. I also have had a JR XP8103, Futaba 9CAP and Futaba 8AUPS, all with 3cell LiPos.

Some manufacturers will cite that there is a chance that the voltage regulator in the Tx can be damaged. Many people in the know believe it is safe to use LiPos in Tx's. There are some postings where owners have added a component to the Tx battery to reduce the top voltage. They usually charge to 12.6v and I recharge at 11v.

Mine last for weeks before they need to be recharged. You need to be careful not to leave the Tx on and discharge the LiPo below 9v.

I remove the battery from the Tx and charge it using my FMA CellPro 4S charger, but you can use other LiPo safe chargers.

If you damage the Tx you may void the warranty.

Use an Eneloop pack.

Your warranty will not be voided.

Extremely low self discharge. Get the benefits without any of the LIPO risk.

Just my .02 cents.

I have not tried A123 or Enyloop batteries, but I understand that they are also a good choice. I believe the manufacturers could have designed these Tx's to handle the LiPo batteries, but perhaps there are other issues I am not aware of. I have been disappointed with NiMh in Tx's. I have had zero problems with LiPos in Tx's. I would like to try Enyloop and A123 sometime.

I dont use a123's becasue you cant check them as other batt's.

I already have a lipoly, but just want to make sure it wont cause any damage to the radio.

It sounds like nobody has issues with lipoly's in tx's.. I have not seen anyone say "my radio failed" yet.

Been using one in a DX7 and x9303 for 2 years in one case, and as long as I have had the 9303 and I got one of the first ones in the US.

No problems. Just dont leave it turned on, the LVA will go off long after the battery is ruined.

I think some of the issues in the past, on the 72mhz is people setting them up with the tx antenna down or off, those modules really heat up that way. Im on 2.4 too, so nothing to worry about other than killing the pack from over draining.

Thanks all!
