Default K140 gas start

I just received a K140 gas start. When I put it on the test stand and ran it, the first start was fine. Then the next few times I tried to start it, the turbine would ignite the gas and then not accelerate to get to the fuel ramp mode. It acts like it is not getting enough gas to get the temp up. What should I do? I am using propane butane mix, Thanks George

Make sure the gas valves are open, the manual (not included but should be installed) as well as the electronic (test via ECU).

I did test the gas valve. Like I said it does ingite, but does not sound like it is getting enough gas. The temp probe is in 1mm.

Gas start ignition is off the propane.

With the fuel line disconnected from the turbine do a prime test and make sure you're getting fuel flow.

Another couple of things to check, connect the HDT and make sure the temp is rising during the gas ignition phase....before it switches to the fuel, if the temp isn't rising enough it won't get onto the pump ramp.

Also check the rpm during the same period, if it's erratic and varying by a large amount it will cause start dramas also.

Cheers,
Smithy.

RPM's are steady, I watched the temp and it only got to 102C I think that is it. What now?

switch to 100% propane and, especially if it is cold outside, keep the bottle warm. if cold the pressure is too low. I had the same trouble with a K170.

Ok here is what the turbine is doing. It will ignite on propane butane mix then will not bring the temp up above 75c. If I turn the bottle upside down and get a little liquid in the line it will get the temp up and do the start to kero like it is supposed to do. I am using Colman butane propane mix that you can buy at Wal-Mart. Works just fine on my other 6 turbines (wren Jet cat).

Rider I will try that right now.

Rider that seems to work, I just did 2 starts. I will test a few more times before I install it. I did have to turn the glow plug up a little. Thanks George
