Default Help needed for Covering Design

G'day

I thought this would be the best place to post given that covering is a part of kit building. I am a while off finishing yet but thought I would start early on getting a design happening for my LT-40. This is the first plane I will have built and therefore will also be my first covering job so I want to keep it relatively easy. I have a 10m roll of white, a 5m roll of black and a 5m roll of red which is the HobbyKing stuff. I was told that it was pretty good stuff to work with and it was a pretty good price too compared to what else is around.

I have seen a few designs posted on the site before but I have know idea how to do them so I will leave that up to whoever is interested? Just keep in mind that I am a beginner flyer too so I will need something fairly easy to see in the air. I am in Australia and generally the skies are blue and the ground where I will fly is quite bushy so it is a greeny colour. Look forward to seeing what you guys come up with

Cheers

Glad to see you are progressing through the build. I hope it's been enjoyable so far. Something to keep in mind is what you'll see when the plane is in the air. I did my LT40 in red on the bottom(easy to see) and yellow on top, with black and red striping. Straight trim stripes are easy to do and really look nice. Given the colors you have on hand, I'd put black on the bottom, white on top, and some black and red trim striping-but that's just me. Enjoy the covering!

I did two articles on covering. The first is "the basics" and the second is a series of videos I did when I covered a wing. You may want to consider a similar color scheme I did in the videos, as it is very easy to see (against a light or dark background) and not too complicated to apply.

First article:

Videos:

You could swap the Blue for Black and if you want to make it easier, skip the "Thunderbird" feathers and the stars. Here's how it will look:

Cheers Yel.  I was thinking maybe firstly cover the whole plane in white and then the leading edges black with a black stipe on the bottom of the wing length ways and a red stripe on the top of the wing length ways.  Then black and red stripes on the fuse length ways again?  I will get a better idea of how it will all look once I have finished the plane.  I can sort of lay the colours out a bit.
