Default Byrofoam?

I jsut got an old Byron F 16 and I want to have good strength without too much weight.
Is it ok just to cover the foam with glass and vacuum bag it or sheet it with a 1/32 ply AND glass that then finally paint it all( Im speaking of the foam only) I tested some peices of scrap and found the weight difference to be .15 of glass with sheeting as opposed to glass without.
What i need is some one with experience here. Will the Byrofoam "dent easily"?
Some help here would really end this dilemma.
