Well I bought the SE kit over a yr ago and last winter started building it !
Wow for the kit as it was very easy to build but on a tight R/C cash flow I took till this spring to finish the build..
I also have had a very hard time getting out to fly this yr !
But this past wed. I was able to hit the flying field with my SE..
nobody at the field and total shaking nerves I decided its now or never ! by the way I have a Irvine .46 MKIII with nearly a gal of 15% Magnum fuel through it! turning a 11X4 APC at 14800 rpm..
well I did all my pre checks and pointed it into the 10 mph gusting to 12 wind and off i went .. its maiden and my nerves and the stronger wind than I would have liked . resulted in oh so sweet a flight !!!!!!! it toook just 3 clicks of up elevator and it blew me away !! its a true flyer and honest to the sticks !! that day I had it up over a dozen times and it was perfect everytime !! that Irvine .46 MKIII wityh the 11X4 apc was working great !!
a frend once told me to put a 12X3.75 APC on it so i have one but just couldnt bring myself to dremmel out the 2.25 aluminum spinner to accomidate that bigger prop..
I talked to him the other day and he said cut away Im going to really like it !! so Im looking for any input on this ! Im not sure when my nexed outing will be with it I sure want it to be very soon ! but young kids and all my flight time is short these days !! thanks for any input !!

Buy a prop nut! That way you can try the prop and if you don't like it no harms done.

Yeah, those DuBro spinner prop nuts are quite cool for this. No Dremel work to do, and you can still use an electric starter, no problema!

Stock landing gear is not suitable for a 12" prop. I like the 12.25x3.75 over the 11x4.

I just maidened my S.E. yesterday as well. YS .63 spinning a 12X7 APC. Stock landing gear, stock size wheels. There is plenty of clearance for a 12" prop. If you fly from pavement and don't dork your landings, there's room for a 13" as well.

BTW, my S.E. took two clicks of left aileron, four clicks right rudder and that was it! Good flying model. I can't wait for calmer winds so I can really trim it out.

I stand corrected. I fly off grass....its mowed down to 0.5" but I still could not take off...
