Default ideas for holding control surfaces while clearcoating

I need some ideas to hold my control surfaces while painting, so I don't have to do one half wait til it dries so I can hold the other half and finish.

What kind of hinges did you use?

On my stick I used Robart hinges.. When it was time to paint i stuck 1/8" dowels in the hinge pockets to use as handles..

You could do the same for flat hinges with a piece of flat metal, wood, zip tie or even nylon strapping..

Buy your self a cheap pack of hack saw blades and slide one deep into a hinge slot, spray both sides and then sit the blade down on your workbench and put something heavy on the hacksaw blade and let the control surface hang off in clean air! Good luck! Terry

As above except that I get a few pieces of scrap wood (1" x 1/2" X 12" or whatever suits) and either drill them for Robart hinges or slot them for other types. Dowels or whatever fit in the wood which then becomes both a handle and a stand.

Another Terry!
