Default Kadet Senior engine mount

I'm trying to mount a Saito 56 on a Kadet Senior. The supplied engine mounts from SIG, have a brace on each side of the mounting rail that wont clear the needle valve unless the engine is mounted fairly far forward on the beam, about 3/4" forward from what the plans call for. Can I mount the engine this far forward without any negative effect on handling, or can I trim the brace a bit so the needle valve will clear it..?

Thanks..!

there are many other brands of motor mounts that don't have any kind of bracing like that at all. it shouldn't have any adverse effects on it at all if you cut it. just make sure thatyou round everything offand there are no sharp corners where cracks could begin from stress. or if you're weary about it, pick out a different motor mount. but it shouldn't be a problem. i've shaved them down before and haven't even broken one ina not so nice landing or when the plane goes into a curb or something.

I dont see any problem moveing the motor foreward on the mount. If your Kadet ends up like mine you'll need nose weight anyway, and the foreward motor will only help matters....Gene

I have in fact used these mounts on a Saitoi 56. and a Saito 65. To releive the area for the needle valve I used a sanding drum on my Dremal tool, making a nice flowing curved releife. Worked fine, and looked gracefull and custom.
Hope this helps, Snuts.

This is surprising.

Are you sure you do not have this engine mount upside down ?
