Looking good Gary, love those rivets on the canopy and the switch on the cowl flap is a great spot....
UPS is bringing me all my glass stuff from F.S. tomorrow and I'm heading to the HS to pick up my retracts and glass cloth.. It's time to get mine done!

Thanks Jimbo
I just ran the engine briefly and got it up to temp, rpm didn't change, and with the baffle in place I read 147 degrees

Unfortunately PhotoBucket is a pain and doesn't always work with this falling out of orbit site, you end up having to pay to play

I started a complaint thread in the Clubhouse forum, doubt it will do much good. If they do not resolve the issues I will not start another build thread on RCU. My current build will wrap up in 6-8 weeks. we will see after that.

UPS dropped off my stuff while I was with the wife at the hobby shop gathering more goodies... The retracts look good and I will get them installed tonight, can't wait to see her on her legs...
The cowl and cooler doors as well as the turbo charger cover from F.S all look excellent, well worth the money in my book.. I am going to look at the idea of making a ring for mounting the cowl with out having the screws showing on the side, I got an idea on how I want to go about it... Time to get working again.......

LOL, Wait, is this considered BS'ing? I seen your thread on that Jimbo.
While we're at it, I invested in Real Flight 6.5 last week, I got a LOT of stick time over the weekend. I was having fun setting up the "in flight fail" feature while flying the TF Giant Corsair.

Glad to see RCU back online.....Kudos to the IT for sobering up in time....
Anyway here are some pics of the service doors and fuel caps I cut out for the wing on Friday.
I am awaiting the last coat of primer to dry and one last wet send and we are off charting the wing.
I consider myself the turtle in the race......I don't think you can possibly go any slower than me with family, work and bad weather.....

I bought a plastic model, I think it was a Revell or Tamiya kit. I also referenced 3 views and all the pics that I have. Did I send you those 3 views that I have? I think I did.

Anything is possible in the kit building world. It has been done and you will have to do some research or jut go at it and design your own. I thought of doing that but I prefer the one piece wing for this build over a two piece plug in. Good luck with your build.

RE: Top Flite Giant P-47 Build
I wouldn't think you would really gain much by a two or three piece wing. 85 inches is right at the point where yes, it is difficult to maneuver around, but manageable. Making plug in outer panels may be more work than the payoff, although it would be nice to store the plane sitting on the gear, it would still take up a lot of space sitting there like that.

I know, that the gain is not very big. But I have small car and I´m going to travel to an airfield with two or three planes. Every one is about 80" range.
I have ESM La-7, now I remake it into La-5FN and it is very difficult get CMP 80" Zero and this Lavochkin into the car.

Making assembly joints for wings is not difficult. There is many examples illustrated (pictures) in this forum.
It could be fun and much satisfaction to make the modifications necessary.
Not knowing your financial situation, a trailer can be expensive and is not the most pleasant thing to move around.
