I ended up not using the hinges, I thought they would snap off at some point, so I went with a tab to hold the bottom of the hatch and RE magnets to hold the top.

Concerning the mounting of the air tank. I have thought that mounting it in the wing belly pan makes the most sense along with the air valve.
I haven't studied out thoroughly though.

Only issue I see is access, in my opinion the stock location is fine and easy to get to. Not sure what you gain by putting it in the wing and with the additional work to make access it doesn't seam worth it.

The only problem I see with the stock location is getting it out if you ever need to, the cockpit will be in the way of removing it.. I am going to do a mock up in a bit with the cockpit and see if you can take it out, i'm pretty sure you can't... That's the only reason I am thinking of moving it lower in the belly of the fuse, seems like a better spot and it's just dead space any way...
Tony,
I was just getting ready to go look in your thread but maybe you can give me the answer.. For the DLE 85 to space right, how far back did you move the firewall? Since mine is going to be used this season to break in a 55 I need for another project, then will get the 85. I figure I might as well make the move now and just add spacers for the 55.. Hope that makes sense..lol

I got the T's from Grainger, they work very well. I also have straight unions for the connection to the wing, simple and no leaks.
Fabio, I bought my RE mags from Hobby Lobby.

Jimbo, I moved the firewall back about 3/4", but I am also moving the cowl forward and using the prop washer to move the prop out about 1/4" to 5/16" I haven't gotten to that part yet. TB

I moved my air tank, I checked and with itin the stock location there is no way of getting it out. Not only does the cockpit get in the way, but the former is in the way if you try taking it out the bottom.. I know that I should never have to remove it, but the way things go with me, if it can't come out i will need to remove it for what ever reason... So i just made a cradle for it in the bottom of the fuse, now that I can remove it if needed, I will never have to, it's a given...lol

Well I think we made the turn in the weather department...
Today it was sunny and around 50...perfect day to have the pig on the rotissery...
Pictures before and after first coat of basting is applied.
Lots of imperfections to correct, but finally the weather is warming up and it should take a couple of hard sanding days to get the pig ready for rivets.....
As always RCU took a S*$&% again....No picture upload today...hopefully tomorrow

Hello all readers,
I have been told by this forum management that they are working to improve the software used to operate this forum. I also understand it will take some time but I do not know how much time.
Hopefully it will be worth while when all done.

Test...... swing and a miss........
I got a lot done yesterday... Pushrods are all in with direct routes to the elv, and rud., no bends in the rods.. Servo tray rails are all epoxied in.. Stringers are installed and I added solid 1/4" stock where the tailwheel doors will be, very light but now I have a solid place to attach the doors.. I soaked my sheeting and wrapped it around the formers and taped it over night, it took the shape very nice, installing it this morning.. I drilled my control surfaces and installed a 5/8" dowel for the control horn bolt, I will glass them before drilling them in, then just a little filler on the topside after they are in..
Did anyone hollow out the rear tail block? I plan on doing it to mine today, no need for it to be solid..

Jimbo, I made a canoe out of my tail block. You might want to do more then just a ¼ piece of balsa for your gear door to mount to. It is not enough and I ended up cutting in a piece of 1/8”x1/2” ply to mount my doors. RCU is on life support, is there a DNR?
