A friend of mine is his grandson, anyone ever get one of his kits or designs?

I built his Heron design. It was kitted by Davey systems and the design objective was for extreme duration with current electric power systems. It is just a high wing trainer type model, stick built and a lifting Stab. Great flying plane. He designed too much positive incidence in though. Something like 7-8 degrees.
I am wanting to install a modern electric system in it now. It will surely have extreme duration compared to the Astro 05 cobalt brushed motor it originally had.

That is great, Rob told me he actually designed almost 400 planes, but only a handful wer e published plans and produced
