That appears correct. I'm just getting to the strut stage, but I'm probably going to try a different approach, just not sure what that is yet.

Yes I'm in agreement with that note. I was thinking more on the line of a blind nut and bolt. I have to get everything cleared up before I do them because they will need to be installed in just the right place. When the wing tube comes I will really get a better view of where I'm going with this.

Sup Lins....3 days a week I get to watch my grandson who is only 3. He kinda keeps me company in my shop. I am so cramped for space with my son moving back in over the winter. Anyways my wing tube came in yesterday. I bought 3/4" X 30" tube and sleeve. Went pretty smooth installing it. I feel so much better having that there instead of just the wing struts. Here are a few pictures of the tube.

Wing bolts look good........how are you going to get to them once they are covered? That was my problem........I made the top window removable so that I could do it.

I do believe that the hatch on top is removable set in with hindges. I should have access that way. I'm pretty sure the prints call for hindges on the top hatch
By the way Sebo, thx for the pictures on page 4 to give me a look how you did yours. Let me ask you........did you modify anything on the engine mount? Also what did you put in yours. I was thinking DLE 30 here.

That sounds good.......maybe I should make a hatch on mine............I really like that idea.
Sounds better than removing the top window.

I've been pluggin along with a few things here and there on the wings. Today I just about have 1/2 the wing all but covered and installing my mounts for the wing struts. After competing both halfs I will mount them on the plane and plan out extactly were and how I will be mounting my struts.

Well I'm just about ready to start the struts. I finished up the othe wing and installed servo. I mounted both to the plane and everything goes togeather well. All my line ups for dowels and blind nuts are ok. Here a few shots of about where I'm at now.

Not much doing here. I cut out the door and window today, and made a latch for the door. Also I installed the top hatch with hindges for inside access.

I'm looking to purchase the coweling for this plane. I DID have one until I trusted my brother-in-law. Somehow he lost it. (he says) Anyways anyone know the closest match in replacement from our vendor suppliers? It is 1/4 scale, just as the thread here is.

Send them the specs on the cowl....they should have something that matches it.
I use them quite often.

I used 3 small hex bolt and blind nuts holding them in place. I will just remove the 3 on each side for transport. I just finished the other side.

Well I don't really see no other posts, but I will continue with my progress. I did both wing struts and started the interior cabin. I made a light sub floor 1 " above bottom of the fuse. More then enough room for my battery pack and wires if needed. I don't have a pilot but finished off the inside to the best of my ability. I was going to use a dle 30. I have a nib, but not liking how tight it is for the carb. in the rear so I desided to go with the dle 20. I will have that in a few days of so. Till then I will start treating my balsa and begin to cover the plane.

Use poster board from the local craft shop or the drug store.
Keep cutting and pasting (scotch taping) parts on to the basic shape and keep refitting until it is close.
when it is close, draw that pattern onto a new sheet of poster board.
cut that one out and trim or add to make it a good fit.
draw that pattern onto another piece of poster board
fit it to the wind screen....if it is a good fit, trace it onto the plastic windshield material.
this has worked for me on a half dozen planes.
Sometimes I draw that one onto a piece of "SEETEMP" and trial fit that piece of seetemp..
If it fits good, save it in case you ever have to replace the windshield. You will be ready....don't forget to label that piece of seetemp.

RE: Bud Nosen 1/4 Cub build?
I am building a BUSA 1/4 scale J3 Cub and I have just finished the wings..The fuse is about 3/4 done.. The tail feathers are framed up.. I am really enjoying your build .. There is much that is comparable.. You have done a great job .. I started mine over a year ago but kept putting it on the back burner when other projects came along . I would sooner be working on my Cub.. I am powering it with a Gemini 160 twin.. I have Robart gear on it .. I am going to fit a set of Hanger 9 struts on it . I need to fit the windows and it looks like it is going to be a real pain .. plus paint the interior..

Time consuming yes, but nice after the interior is done. I laid a floor about 1 1/2" above the bottom of the fuse due to I had 2 servos, and 2 battery packs under it. Everything was painted 1st. With all my windows I used a sheet of windshield material and burned little holes about every 3" Then screwed in very small screws. Before I screwed them in I used canopy glue. They all came out very nice, tight and clean. You need a picture of this let me know.
Another idea for the windshield if you don't have one cut out yet is I used clear packing tape 3". I laid out a big sq. large enough to form windshield then taped the opposite side so that is was just a very thin windshield. I formed it around the windshield area then cut it out with my blade. The tape was thick enough to hold the form. 1st shot and all I needed to do was dermal just a few small areas.
