RE: fiberglass question
Thank you Guys,
Thanks for the comments on my model and stand. The stand is a combination of several P-38 stands I've seen here on RCU. I needed to put lightening holes on the model stand to keep it light...and gain access to the pneumatic fill valve and onboard glow battery recharge plug (McDanials on-board glow was used).
I had to make my model transportable and so I made the stab removable, the wing splits in half, and the pilot pod as well as the nacelles are removable. You would not belive the connections I need to make to assemble the model...but the end results are nice. The stand became needed to assemble the model...its to big to man handle, and awkward with it being so wide. So I assemble the wing and pilot pod at home...then assemble the stand at the flying field (I remove the arms to get the stand into my van). I place the wings and pilot pod (assembled at home) onto the stand...then set the nacelles and stab onto the model. Every thing is tied down with 1/4x20 nylon screws, and the removable stab with four #8 cap headed screws. With out the stand...there is no way one can assemble the model with out help...this way...I can do it by myself.

RE: fiberglass question
I've been meaning to give a final update on my "F5" built from MA plans. The picture is on the runway before the maiden flight. Flies nice. I would prefer an in flight shot but my photographer (son) couldn't keep up with it. Just a few more flights and it will be on to making a mold. The second one will be glass and foam and I'm certain I can save a bunch of weight.
