I'm planning on building a 1/4 J-3 Cub kit as my next build. I've been looking at the BUSA and Sig kits. I like the sig kit except for the wing. I'd like a wing similar to the BUSA kit where the center section stay attached tot he fuse and the 2 wings are attached to that. Can anyone point me to any build threads for 1/4 sig kits with the wing attachments modified or should I just go with the BUSA kit? I've tried searching on here but for some reason I almsot always end up with 0 matching thread despite trying alot of different word combos for the search.

Not sure if any of the kits has a main wing tube as I had a bad experience with my Bud Nosen Cub which didnt and relied on the struts too keep the wings in place. When one strut failed the wing folded. Took me a while to rebuild the Cub from the rear of the cabin all the way up front. Now I have an aluminum tube going through.
Good luck in your decision.

I also have the Sig Cub. Powered by a gas 26 and it flies great. Did the pattern after Hazel Sig's clipped wing cub. My is also the clipped wing version

This is the great thing about kit building, MODIFYING! Get the SIG kit, and modify the wing section to your liking. Get a carbon fiber tube, or aluminum as the main spar, and build a center section to mount the outboard panels to. The hardest part in all this is securing the panels to the center section while maintaining scale appearance. You may be able to secure the tubes to the panels and from inside the cockpit secure them to the center.

Does anyone know of any links to a build thread modifiying the sig kit for a 2-piece wing. I want to build a standard J-3 with the full wing and I think carring the 105" one piece wing would be a pain the rear. I'm a relatively novice builder having only built the sig LT-40 (which I learned to fly with) and a Sig Somethin Extra. I'd love a step-by-step for the wing modification.

Here's a link to a IKON N'WEST cub. I have built both the BUSA and the SIG. Either one can be built the way you want it. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11...m.htm#11083562
And just FYI this one, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_27...tm.htm#2708451
Enjoy.

Neddy, the 1/4 Scale Sig Cub that I looked at claimed that it was already a 2-Piece wing.... if that helps you ...
I'm looking at the Sig RC48 Kit version http://www.sigmfg.com/cgi-bin/dpsmar...FV5.html?E+Sig
