Default Control Throw Set-up

I'm sizing the control rods for a Venture 60 for the elevator and rudder. I have a computer radio on order so I will be using dual rates and can adjust throws. With this in mind, what holes on the control horns and servos should I use as a sizing and starting points?

Thanks

I generally go with the furthest out on the servo, then start at about the middle of the control horn.

Any other responses on how you set up the control throws on the different control surfaces? What about on the aileron servos? Any input appreciated.

Thanks

I'd agree with Mike on this, including ailerons. Many kits recommend starting the ailerons on the outer most hole, but I find very liitle roll authority with that set up.

I agree with what Minflyer said there.
If this gives you too much throw, move it in by one stop on the surface control horn.
The closer in you go, the more torque the servo effectively has to move that surface.

The closer in on the control horn one goes increases the throw, correct? And the closer one goes in on the servo reduces the throw, correct?

This is what Bruce Tharpe replied when I emailed him:

"The general rule for any model is to attach the pushrod as far OUT on the control horn as possible, as far IN on the servo arm as possible, and use maximum throw (100% or more) in your computer radio. If that's not enough throw, adjust your linkage position (at the servo), not the radio. This gives you max precision from the radio and max leverage in the control system."

I'm not trying to pit opinions against each other, I'm just trying to understand the theory behind the practice so I can make a determination. Sorry if I'm killing what may seem like an insignificant subject. It's my nature.

Thanks
