<span style="font-size: larger;"><span style="font-family: 'Comic Sans MS';">Well, all these replies back have really got me doing a lot of thinking. For the wing size of the Mid-Star, I think 2" squares would be best. 4" would be too big for the Mid-Star wing cord. I don't really care if the squares can be recognized from a distance, just so long as they will contrast with the top of the wing. I think it would be nice to use squares that would match a trim color. My next question is how hard would it be to apply pre-cut 2" squares to a wing bottom to make a checker board. I'm pretty sure I could cut exact squares with no problem, but applying them seems like it could be a challenge. Does anyone have suggestions. I'm thinking an orange wing with black or dark blue trim.

consider making them a size that would fit evenly since you are going to duplicate them anyhow.
do they have to be square? would rectangles work just as well?
you might want to use a soap type of solution to position the squares as you are applying them.
since I used jumbo sized squares it wasn't necessary to do this. I just tapped the corners in place as I got them alligned..have to watch so that you don't overheat because the straight edges will buckle....can get tricky...lots of luck to you...I'm sure you will do well.........try doing a sample on a test bed.

This is my Ultra Stick 40 with 2" checkerboard. It was work enough keeping centered and lined up laterally. BTW, undergoing repairs after an engine failure and collision with a tree in our 'Bermuda Triangle' where most all crashes seem to occur.
I'll suggest not going with individual squares unless you don't mind the tedium. If you go that route, it would be good to go over each edge with clear fingernail polish or lacquer. Nothing worse than having multiple edges pulling up after every flying session.<br type="_moz" />
