<div>I have a CG Tiger 60 kit (not ARF) which calls for a 2 stroke .45 – .65 or 4 stroke .65 – .80.</div><div>I was thinking of one of two possibilities.</div><div>1. ASP FS91AR – been reading the reviews and except for maybe needing an initial valve adjustment (I found 1 case) the reviews seem to be excellent.</div><div>2. NGH GT9 9cc gasoline (manual rates it as a .56 2 stroke). Approximately the same price as the .91 4 stroke ($130.00).</div><div></div><div>I'd prefer to go to straight gasoline, but am unsure if I'd need to make any mods to the build.</div><div></div><div>I appreciate your answer</div><div>dave</div>

So far I have used the OS .61, OS .75, OS .91 FS, Saito 100 and a YS 1.10 in the 4* 60s and all have worked very well. I have never has or seen the little 9cc yet and know nothing at all about them other then what I have read. If you go with using one please post it and give us a report here.

Dave, did you consider a DLE-20 for the Tiger? Would be a great combo and very inexpensive to run... I built my Tiger about 3 or 4 years ago and I put in the OS FS-91 4 stroke engine in it. It pulls it quite nicely with a 14-4W prop.

Gene, what size did you put on your much smallerSwoose build? LOL
The Tiger 60is a BIG 60 sized plane and could handle the power easily. Some mods would have to be made such as a more substantial firewall.

I got home yesterday and after getting a good nights sleep I feel a lot better. My thinking I would recover in my shop isn't going to happen though.
OK, VJ, I did say I wasn't against doing things like that myself but I do warn people about it. That is a YS 1.10 in my little swoose that only calls for a .50 two stroke. I also have a YS 1.10 in my 60 size Hots and a YS 1.20 in my 60 size Extra. Guilty as charged. The swoose is only getting flown at about 1/4 throttle until I do something that the plane was never designed to do.
Too Much Power is just about Right!! It can also jump up and bite you in the butt when you don't expect it!!
So be warned. I also go the other way too and go too small. Flying on the wing is a lot of fun too.
Gene, maybe tomorrow I will get out of my really loose fitting PJs and walk without wining.
Maybe not??

Magic Melvin,
I would not recommend putting the 9cc gasoline engine in. I have a Tiger 60 with a JBA 15cc gasoline engine and the two are a great match power wise. I just don't think the 9cc would be enough. I just flew my Tiger today as it is my "bread & butter" plane that I take to the field every time. The tiger 60 builds a bit tail heavy and you have to add weight no matter what and bend the mains back a little to get them behind the CG otherwise the tail drags. The JBA 15cc was a bit heavier than the 60 nitro I took out of it so I was able to remove the balancing weight I added to the nose. I think the 9cc would be a bit short on power and weight. I can just about hover vertically with the JBA and it doesn't seem over powered. The only gas engine that I know of that I would put in the Tiger would be another JBA 15 or I would try the NGH 17cc. If you get the JBA 15cc you will also need to get a DLE 20 carburetor to replace the stock one as the throat diameter is too big on the stock carburetor and it will suffer from the rich mid-range issue. I have not had any problems with my JBA 15 since I replaced the carburetor although I have heard of people having the connecting rod break. I have about 2.5 gallons through mine...I fly the stew out of it. Just trying to give you some information so you can make an informed decision. I read a thread here on RCU where one guy was putting a 20cc DLE engine in. I think that the 20 cc DLE would be too much, but I guess that all depends on your flying style.
