Default Foam core warbird kits

Foam core warbird kits

New to kit building and I got the impression that "foam core" kits tend to be the simplest and fastest. Specifically l was looking at Jack Devine models who touts this method and was interested in a few of his kits. (I'm looking for warbird kits ... bigger would be better) The problem is they never seem to answer their emails. (I've tried three now over the last few days)

Anyone know of any other company who makes these kinds of warbird kits?

Thanks!

Colin

I don't see foam core as being any better or worse then built up. Some people find it easier, some don't. Quicker?? Sometimes but I build fast enough that it takes me about the same time to frame up as it does to sheet a core. The guys that build a lot of foam core planes use a vacuum bag system to suck down the sheeting, I use a couple hundred pounds of lead shot bags. I just haven't had enough foam core kits to go to the trouble of the vacuum bag. I do now have a foam cutter now so maybe in the future?

I use stacks of magazines to hold down my core sheeting while the glue dries. Always save the shucks that the wings come in. It makes holding the sheeting in place when the glue dries so much easier. Good Luck, Dave
