Oh, bugger 3136, count me in from the other side of the globe!

1/3 scale Sopwith Pup with Zenoah G62 under the cowling, bought second hand. A old workhorse of one of the best builders in Iceland (the planes in the background are his builds too) its maiden flight was back in 1996 and still lookin' good as new.

On the workbench right now for inspection, looking forward to get her in the air again

Oh, forgot, mention of the Cub reminded me. My Scale Masters "ride" is a 1/4 Scale BUSA Cub converted to L-4 which took 3rd in Pro/Am Pro at Gunsmoke and Hemet this year.

Since most of the brotherhood members are from the USA, as 3136 suggested we do a Fly-In at some point. Most of Balsa USA kits are WW I aircraft, I would like suggest we meet and fly at the Dawn Patrol Rendezvous in Dayton Ohio , September 26th -29th 2014. Here is a little bit about it : Commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I in Europe as one of the nation's premier historical aviation events brings the excitement and adrenaline of early air power to Ohio. The three-day World War I Dawn Patrol Rendezvous features vintage original and reproduction WWI aircraft, radio-controlled models, era automobiles, period re-enactors and a collector's show. This flying event is offered by the museum and the Great War Aeroplanes Association. FREE admission and parking.
http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/wwi.asp
By the way Balsa USA is the Primary Sponsor for the Great War Radio Modelers.
What do you think, is this possible? I know several modelers who will be there. This will be my 4th Dawn Patrol Rendezvous. I have already made my motel reservation.

Balsa USA also serves scratch builders well, and I was always impressed by their helpful staff when I lived back in the USA. They carry 48 inch stock of hardwood and balsa so it was easy to build 100 inch span planes. Here is one of old Twin Otters, built out of Balsa USA wood...... Sign me up!

I too have bought a lot of wood from BUSA, not to mention the Solartex.

Here is a Dick Sarpolus Mig 3, 88" span, I built from the wood I got from them. Very fun sport scale plane.

thailazer we went through this before with kennye, the brotherhood is for Balsa USA kits, I have to draw the line somewhere, otherwise someone who ordered some CA glue from them could join.
I can save a place for you if you intend to buy a kit, they are affordable and they are fantastic planes.

A question to the brotherhood, shall we just keep it for BUSA kits or include scratch builders who buy their wood?

I will be at the Dawn Patrol in Sept. Here is a picture from the Fond Du Lac gathering. There were 30 or more planes in this picture. Most were Balsa USA. And as to the question about members of the brotherhood? It is a kit builders forum, so I think we should hold to that. Just my opinion.

Or the covering, or decals, or wheels, or guns, or pushrods... Maybe the name sould be Balsa USA kit brotherhood. Otherwise, any BUSA customer is fair game, even if I used (fpor exampkle) a piece of their wood and covering to repair my ARF. Again, just to show what you are opening up to:-)

Balsa USA uber alles...

I agree, this forum should be about the airplane kits and the beautiful airplanes that are built. Many modelers turn the basic kit into a remarkable semi-scale aircraft of that era. The more photos of your airpalnes the better. Hope to see you at Dayton in September.
