Default First Warbird Kit?

I'm thinking a bit ahead here, probably 3 or 4 planes down the line after I have progressed, but I would like to obtain the kit sooner rather than later. Out of the two kits listed below, which one would be the best for a first warbird kit and why?

Top Flite 1/7 P-47
Top Flite 1/7 P-51

I'm not interested in anything larger at this time.

Thanks,
Don

I really don't know either of these kits firsthand. I will tell you that P47s generally have a bigger wing and fly well.

Thats just a broad statement as many P51s are also excellent fliers as long as they are not TOO scale..

P-47. Wider landing gear, nice on the ground. Less carving of the front end to get a motor to fit.

My father-in-law built and flew both. He stated that each was great in the air; but he preferred the ground handling of the P-47. He later bought the P-47 kit for me as a present. While I haven't built it yet, I'd take that as a further endorsement of the P-47, in his mind.
