Default A great loss - Roger Moffat of Sequoia Systems

I'm not a regular poster on this section of the forum but do post on the RC Jets forum. This I felt was where this post belonged.

The sad news is that we have lost one of the most skilled model makers/manufacturers I have ever had the pleasure to know.

Roger Moffat had been involved in design and aviation most of his life, he ran a business before his retirement selling very accurate cnc machines which ran a bespoke software program he helped design. His company is Sequoia Systems and he ran this business through into his retirement specialising in producing small yet truly unbelievable kit planes.

His 'finch' range included the Greenfinch and the Goldfinch and before he passed away he was working on a powered glider version of the Goldfinch but alas this was not a completed project.

I have built many jet kits for friends around the world and whilst there are some amazing talented people out there I honestly have never seen anything like Roger's kits for unbelievable detail, amazing engineering and stupendous attention to detail, his manual supplied with each kit was like a novel, every page painstakingly laid out with colour pictures and detailed descriptions to how to assemble the kit. Many of his customers bought kits to assemble and leave as a bare uncovered airframe so they could be mounted in a dispay case to be admired for their engineering most of which was miniaturised from full scale practice. They also few very well too when covered!

Here are some picture of one of his masterpieces, the Greenfinch234

You will be missed..............
