If I were to build it, I would be using Titebond, and since the joints are all locked in place, that would make it even easier to do since no tacking to hold them then go back later with the syringe is needed.

Hello All

Sorry for not posting here for awhile. Busy season. Hope all enjoyed the holidays.

Couple of things that were discovered that i'm sending out to the customers that got the first shipment. The outer wing panels have two of the same rib. When transferring the drawings to the cut files I copied 4 of the second rib in on the outer panel. There should of only been two of the second rib and two of the first per kit not 4 of the 2nd rib that is shorter by about a 1/2 inch. I have cut the replacement ribs which are a 1/2 inch longer. Also I have included additional hardware for the kit. I have started sending these out to all the customers that have been sent the early kits. You should be receiving an email from me with the shipping tracking info this week.

Also SIG will be shipping out the cowls as well directly to you.

Sorry for the inconvenience but please keep me posted of any problems that you may have.

Thanks for your support to make this kit a reality without you we would not of been able to bring this kit out.

See photos of the correct rib for the outer panel and the cowl.

Mike, warts and all you guys did an amazing job on designing this kit! I'm sure up there in the sky over Montezuma, IA Glen, Hazel, and Maxey are jumping up and down clapping with joy over what you guys and gals have accomplished!

Nope, pretty sure if something happened, we would hear about it. Saw her last year in Toledo and again at the Fly In. She goes flying around on her golf cart.

Well I joined the 168 club today. Placed my order around noon. So now once it arrives, the B-25 will be set aside, and all three benches will be cleared to build this monster. Other than covering, I think I have all I need, and whatever I don't I will pick up in Toledo next week. I doubt it will be ready to fly by June this late in the game, but for sure next year. I have the servos, engine, and radio, and should have enough cable to make the extensions with. The only thing I may need are exhaust pipes for the DA100 since it has canisters right now. I may go with the Hobby King covering since it can be purchased in long rolls. I have a lot of catching up to do, but I am also a fast builder.

I knew you would succumb to temptation sooner or later! You were drooling too much over the existing builds not to. ;-)

LOL yeah, and I needed something other than the Extra 330 which I will never fly to put the DA 100 on. No sense letting it just sit in the trailer. Should have enough power to just hang off the prop.

It appears they have all the parts cut in stock and build the kit as they are ordered. I can't imagine they cut the entire kit, boxed it up and shipped it all in one day.

It does makes sense, it would seem to be easier to store the parts then try to have them all boxed and sitting on a shelf.

I have been thru the SIG tour a couple times, but once I was able to go there with a friend that owned a Hobby Shop when he picked up the order for work. It was pretty cool hanging out in the build area, tons of balsa around, and most of the airplanes they have used in ads over the years..hanging from the ceiling and sitting on shelves above. One of the really fun moments was when an employee walked in with a big bag of parts and told the Guy we were talking to "Here is that sample kit you wanted cut out" Just imagine being able to want to build something, for yourself, or maybe to sell as a business... and someone just carries it in lazer cut, and you are standing at huge tables with every supply known to the industry.. Its like a dream to a builder

I hope they do sell a bunch of this big Rascal, saw the prototype.. its insanely big and beautiful.

I haven't decided how I am going to build the wing yet.
I do not want struts. I am going to reinforce the "hat" and the wing panels.
The DA170 is for weight carrying capability .This plane is being built for a specific job.
Wings for Kids charity event "Candy drop!" TEN POUNDS.
I am really on the fence to just sell it or make the mods..............

HorsePower, just as a comparison on carrying ability... I think a Sig Senior has carried ten pounds in a weight lift competition. I heard it had to have a long runway !

The plane is already very heavy. Add an even heavier engine (though arguably this might help with the balance weight otherwise needed) AND carry ten pounds of candy? I'm not sure this is the plane for that duty. Keep the safety of the kids in mind also. Something like a Senior Telemaster (or whatever is currently available as a kit or plans) might be a better choice given the now known structural problems this airplane has sans struts.
